Caulfield Racecourse Reserve is located nine kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, on the boundary of Caulfield and Caulfield East in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is one of three metropolitan horse racing clubs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It began life as the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, in 1875 with Mr. E.C. Moore as the club's first Secretary. The Dowling Forest Racecourse in Ballarat was the location for the first VATC race meeting on Friday, 24 March 1876. Within six months the VATC were granted use of Crown land at Caulfield as a permanent home in Melbourne. History and race meetings In 1879, the club staged the first running of the Caulfield Cup, and two years later, introduced the Caulfield Guineas and the Toorak Handicap. Sandown Racecourse (also known as Ladbrokes Park due to naming rights) is a Thoroughbred horse racing race track administered by the Melbourne Racing Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is situated 25 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD on the Princes Highway in the suburb of Springvale in the City of Greater Dandenong. Typhoon Tracy (5 September 2005 – 13 August 2012) was an outstanding Australian Thoroughbred racemare who won six group one (G1) races and was crowned Australian Racehorse of the Year for 2009/10. Breeding She was bred and is raced by Hutchins Thoroughbreds of Queensland and is by the good sire, Red Ransom (USA) her dam is the 2010 TBQA Broodmare of the Year, Tracy's Element who won four G1 races and a G2 race in South Africa.
