Kaljo Kiisk
Kaljo Kiisk (3 December 1925 – 20 September 2007) was a Soviet and Estonian actor, film director, screenwriter and politician. He was best known for his roles as Kristjan Lible from ''Spring'' ( et, Kevade), ''Summer'' (''Suvi'') and ''Autumn'' (''Sügis''), film adaptations of Oskar Luts' novels, and as Johannes Saarepera from ETV's long-running ''Õnne 13''. His career spanned over half a century from 1953 to 2007. Early life Kiisk was born and raised in Vaivina. In 1944, aged 18, he served in the anti-aircraft unit of the 20th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Estonian), and took part in the Battle of Tannenberg Line. After World War II, he managed to obscure his military service from the Soviet occupiers. Tallinnfilm is the oldest surviving film studio in Estonia. It was founded as Estonian Culture Film in 1931, and was nationalized in 1940 after Estonia was forced into the Soviet Union. The All-Union Film Festival (russian: Всесоюзный кинофестиваль; tr.:''Vsesoyuznyy kinofestival'', also known as ВКФ; ''VKF'') was one of the most important film festivals of the Soviet Union. It was founded in 1958 and held regularly from 1964-1988. It was held annually from 1972 onwards, and bi-annually before that (before 1964, there were festivals in the years 1958, 1959 and 1960). Ada Lundver
Ada Lundver (9 February 1942 – 6 October 2011) was an Estonian film actress and media personality. She appeared in nearly thirty films. Life Lundver was born in Käina Parish (now, Hiiumaa Parish), on the island of Hiiumaa in 1942. She used to spend each summer on the island with her grandmother. In 1960 Lundver was working in a shoe factory in Tallinn. The following year, her life was transformed as she was acting with the State Philharmonic of the Estonian SSR. She was chosen from nearly 250 other applicants. She completed a course in pop singing before acting more. She and Eve Kivi became the most well known Estonian actresses. She made films in the 60s, and signed an agreement to make more films in 1969 - becoming the "German slut in Russian movies". She married Mikk Mikiver in 1971 and then made many more films. Eino Tamberg
Eino Tamberg (27 May 1930 – 24 December 2010) was an Estonian composer whose works are performed internationally. He composed operas such as ''Cyrano de Bergerac'', four symphonies, and several concertos. He taught composition for decades at the Estonian Academy of Music. Life Tamberg was born in Tallinn. He studied composition with Eugen Kapp at the Tallinn Conservatory, graduating in 1953. He worked as music director at the Tallinn Drama Theatre from 1952, and as sound engineer for the Estonian Radio from 1953 to 1957. As a composer, he first became known with his song cycle (1955) based on poetry by Sándor Petőfi, and with his ''Concerto Grosso'' (1956), for which he won a gold medal at an international music festival in Moscow. Rudolf Allabert (3 September 1939 Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast – 10 March 2011 Tallinn) was an Estonian actor, director and theatrical pedagogue. Until 1961 he worked at Rakvere Theatre. In 1965 he graduated from Tallinn State Conservatory. Allabert was a founding member of the Estonian State Youth Theatre. In 2006 he was awarded with Order of the White Star, IV class. Kalju Komissarov (8 March 1946 Võru – 6 March 2017) was an Estonian actor, theatre and film director, and theatre pedagogue. Väino Aren (11 August 1933 – 18 April 2023) was an Estonian ballet dancer, actor, and operetta singer. Career Born in Pala, Tartu County, Aren studied at Vanemuine Ballet Studio in Tartu. From 1953 until 1955, he studied at the Leningrad Choreographic School. In 1959 he graduated from Tallinn Choreographic School. From 1950 until 1971 (with pauses), he was ballet soloist at Estonia Theatre; from 1971 until 1975 operetta soloist and since 1978 a stage manager at Estonia Theatre.
