Kenzō Masaoka

Chikara To Onna No Yo No Naka
is a 1933 anime short film by Kenzō Masaoka and the first Japanese anime of any type to feature voiceovers. The film was released in black and white. There are no known prints of this film available, and it is considered a lost film. ''Chikara'' was listed as one of the "Best of Best" by the 12th Japan Media Arts Festival. Plot The protagonist is a father of four children. His wife is tall, and weighs due to her incredibly large physique. Because he is constantly being henpecked at home, he becomes involved in an affair with a typist at his company and accidentally tells his wife about it while talking in his sleep. After obtaining additional evidence of the affair, she goes to confront both her husband and the typist at her husband's office. Kumo To Tulip
is a short animated Japanese film made in 1943 by Kenzo Masaoka. It is a story about a ladybug being chased by a black-faced spider. The spider catches the ladybug, but then it rains, the spider drowns, and the ladybug is freed by a friendly fly. In 2001, the Japanese magazine ''Animage'' elected ''Kumo to Tulip'' one of the greatest anime productions of all time. The short-film was screened at Locarno Film Festival and at Barbican Centre's Barbican Animation Show. Plot A spider wants to lure a beetle-woman into her net by singing, but she recognizes the danger and flees. She saves herself in a tulip, in which she is then wrapped by the spider's thread. Shortly after, a storm rises, which the beetle-woman (protected by the flower) survives, but the spider gets thrown through the air until it finally lands in a puddle. Benkei Tai Ushiwaka
is a 1939 Japanese short anime film made by Kenzō Masaoka. It is based on the legendary encounter between Saitō Musashibō Benkei, who was collecting swords for the Buddha, and Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who was called Ushiwaka in his youth. After training under the ''tengu'' of Mt. Kurama, Ushiwaka foils Benkei's attempt to take his sword in a battle on Gojo Bridge in Kyoto and makes Benkei his vassal. is a 1935 Japanese musical drama film directed by Yoshitsugu Tanaka and produced by J.O. Studios (later Toho), based on ''The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter'', a 10th century Japanese literary tale. In the film, Princess Kaguya was raised by a couple who spread rumors that she had ascended a mountain in order to deceive suitors and ran away with her son and the princess.
