Kentucky High School Athletic Association
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) has been the governing body of the U.S. state of Kentucky high-school athletics since 1917. It is located in Lexington. Sports The organization sanctions competition in the following sports: *Boys' and girls': Basketball, Bowling, Cross-country, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track and field. *Boys only: Baseball, Football, Wrestling (girls are eligible to wrestle also). *Girls only: Fast pitch softball, Volleyball. Competitive bowling, bass fishing, and archery were sanctioned beginning in the 2011-2012 school year. Competition in girls' slow-pitch softball was discontinued after the 2006-07 academic year. Softball
Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. The game was first created in 1887 in Chicago by George Hancock. There are two rule sets for softball generally: ''slow pitch softball'' and ''fastpitch''. Slow pitch softball is commonly played recreationally, while women's fastpitch softball is a Summer Olympic sport and is played professionally. Depending on the variety being played and the age and gender of the players, the particulars of field and equipment vary. Harlan County High School
Harlan County High School (HCHS) is a public high school located in the unincorporated community of Rosspoint, Kentucky, served by the post office of another unincorporated community, Baxter. The school opened in August 2008 to replace the three previously separate public high schools in the Harlan County district: Evarts High School, James A. Cawood, and Cumberland High School. Fort Knox Middle High School is a middle/high school in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States, serving grades 7–12 on the grounds of Fort Knox. The original building was constructed in 1958, with further additions in 1961, 1966, 1987 and 1989.
