Kensington Cricket Club
The Kensington District Cricket Club ("The Browns") is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). Location In 1963, the City of Burnside relocated the club from the Kensington Oval to the Kensington Gardens Reserve. The club has leases over the three cricket ovals, (Parkinson Oval, Ford Oval and Col. Waite Oval) in perpetuity as compensation for this relocation. Club history Kensington has an extremely rich past player history, dominated by the presence of Sir Donald Bradman and Clarrie Grimmett who played for the club in the 1930s. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Hampton Neil Dansie (born 2 July 1928) is a former first-class cricketer and long-term administrator for South Australia. Early life Nicknamed "Nodder" due to his habit of nodding in agreement when in conversation, Dansie was born in Nuriootpa, South Australia, the grandson of Sam Dansie, a leading country cricketer who represented a Broken Hill team against the touring Marylebone Cricket Club side.Pollard, J. Sturt Cricket Club
The Sturt Cricket Club (formerly the Unley Cricket Club) is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket League, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The club entered the SACA competition in season 1897/98. The club has produced a number of prominent players including current players Mohammed Arhaan Tai, Cullen Bailey, Jason Borgas, Cameron Borgas, and Tom Moffat. Michael Klinger
Michael Klinger (born 4 July 1980) is an Australian former first-class cricketer, who held the record for the most runs scored in the Big Bash League when he retired in 2019. Until the 2008–09 season, Klinger played for Victoria and for St Kilda Cricket Club in Premier Cricket. He joined the South Australia Redbacks for the 2008–09 season, was named their Captain in 2010, and was recognised as the State Player of the Year in both 2009 and 2010. He was one of the 350 players under the hammer for the IPL Auction 2011, and was bought by Kochi Tuskers Kerala. In 2014 he was recruited by the Perth Scorchers and then also played for Western Australia. In March 2018, he announced his retirement from first-class cricket. Dean Waugh
Dean Parma Waugh (born 3 February 1969) is a former Australian first-class cricketer who played a match for New South Wales and also represented South Australia at list A level. Although he only had a brief career in Australian domestic cricket, the right-handed batsman is noted for being the younger brother of players Mark and Steve Waugh. His only first-class appearance came during the 1995–96 Sheffield Shield season when a Phil Emery led New South Wales, in the absence of their Test stars, took on Queensland at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Queenslanders batted first and amassed 371, with Waugh taking a catch to dismiss their captain Allan Border off the bowling of Greg Matthews. Mark Cleary (cricketer)
Mark Francis Cleary (born 19 July 1980 in Moorabbin, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian first-class cricketer, who played for the Victorian Bushrangers. He is a bowling all-rounder, who is a left-handed lower order batsman, and right-arm fast-medium bowler. Cleary has played cricket in England for Leicestershire and Yorkshire (2005). Since 2006, Cleary has spent his winters as a professional player-coach for Excelsior'20 C.C. in Schiedam, Netherlands. Jamie Siddons
James Darren Siddons (born 25 April 1964) is an Australian cricketer, renowned for his involvement in Sheffield Shield first-class cricket over a 16-year career. He initially played for Victoria, and later for South Australia. He is currently a professional cricket coach and the batting coaching advisor for the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. Playing career On 23 November 1997 he broke David Hookes' Shield run record of 9,364, going on to make 10,643 runs in 146 games. He is now the third highest run-scorer in the Shield's history, behind Darren Lehmann and Jamie Cox. Jeff Hammond (cricketer)
Jeffrey Roy Hammond (born 19 April 1950) is a former Australian cricketer who played in five Test matches and one One Day International in 1972 and 1973. A fast bowler, Hammond was described as having "raw pace, a great short ball and an ability to swing it away late from the right-handers." Hammond made his first-class cricket debut for South Australia in 1969 and was included in the Australian squad for the 1972 Ashes tour of England, where he played his sole One Day International, taking 1/41.
