Victoria is a state in southeastern Australia. Premier Of Victoria
The premier of Victoria is the head of government in the Australian state of Victoria. The premier is appointed by the governor of Victoria, and is the leader of the political party able to secure a majority in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Responsible government came to the colony of Victoria in 1855. Between 1856 and 1892, the head of the government was commonly called the premier or the prime minister, but neither title had any legal basis. The head of government always held another portfolio, usually Chief Secretary or Treasurer, for which they were paid a salary. The first head of government to hold the title of premier without holding another portfolio was William Shiels in 1892. Rob Maclellan
Robert Roy Cameron "Rob" Maclellan AM (born 8 March 1934) is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the seats of Gippsland West (1970–76), Berwick (1976–92) and Pakenham (1992–2002). He was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party from 1982 to 1985. Background Maclellan was born in Melbourne to businessman Roy James Maclellan and Amy Catherine McMicking. He attended Melbourne Grammar School and received a Bachelor of Law from Melbourne University in 1966. He has also studied history at La Trobe University. Alan Stockdale
Alan Robert Stockdale (born 21 April 1945) is the former President of the Liberal Party of Australia and a former Victorian state Deputy Liberal leader. He was Treasurer of Victoria in the government of Jeff Kennett from 1992 to 1999. Early life Having attended Melbourne High School during his secondary years, Stockdale undertook his tertiary education at the University of Melbourne, obtaining his LL.B. in 1967 followed by his B.A. in 1970. Whilst at University, he was active within the Melbourne University Liberal Club, becoming president in 1965. He also chaired both the Melbourne University Debating Union and Melbourne University Debating Society, representing the University as an inter-varsity debating representative in 1966. Bill McGrath
William Desmond McGrath (3 December 1936 – 22 August 2018) was an Australian politician who was a member of National Party. He was also a professional Australian rules footballer. McGrath played in the Victorian Football League with South Melbourne, under captain-coach Ron Clegg. He played 15 out of a possible 18 games in the 1959 home and away season. He also kicked 18 goals, including five in a win over Richmond at Punt Road, with team-mate Bob Skilton matching his tally. At the end of the year he returned to his family farm in Minyip but would continue to play and later coach in the Wimmera Football League. In the 1979 state election, McGrath became the member for Lowan in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, and then the member for Wimmera in 1992, following a redistribution. Robert Ian "Rob" Knowles (born 4 July 1947) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Ballarat to farmer Robert Joseph Knowles and Dulce, ''née'' Odgers. Mark Alexander Birrell (born 7 February 1958) is a company director and a former Cabinet Minister in the Australian state of Victoria. Early life Birrell was born in Melbourne and was educated at Trinity Grammar. He studied at Monash University obtaining a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws. Phillip Archibald Gude (born 2 June 1941) is a former Victorian politician. From 1991 to 1999 he was deputy leader of the Victorian Liberal Party. Denis Vincent Napthine (born 6 March 1952) is a former Australian politician who was the 47th Premier of Victoria. Napthine was a Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the electoral district of Portland from 1988 to 2002 and South-West Coast from 2002 to 2015.
