Rob Maclellan
Robert Roy Cameron "Rob" Maclellan AM (born 8 March 1934) is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the seats of Gippsland West (1970–76), Berwick (1976–92) and Pakenham (1992–2002). He was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party from 1982 to 1985. Background Maclellan was born in Melbourne to businessman Roy James Maclellan and Amy Catherine McMicking. He attended Melbourne Grammar School and received a Bachelor of Law from Melbourne University in 1966. He has also studied history at La Trobe University. He worked in the Victorian Attorney-General's department before teaching at Sunshine and Northcote High Schools, finally becoming a farmer at San Remo jointly with his brother. Maclellan married Beverley Merrill Bonwick on 22 June 1963; they have three children. He still lives in San Remo. 1992 Victorian State Election
The 1992 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 3 October 1992, was for the 52nd Parliament of Victoria. It was held in the Australian state of Victoria to elect all 88 members of the state's Legislative Assembly and 22 members of the 44-member Legislative Council. The Labor government of Premier Joan Kirner, who had replaced John Cain on 10 August 1990, was defeated in a landslide by the Liberal–National Coalition led by Jeff Kennett and Pat McNamara, who had campaigned on comprehensive economic and structural reform as well as changes to industrial relations. It was the largest majority that the Coalition had ever won in Victoria. Robert Logan Dean (born 31 October 1952) Australian politician is a former member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Early life and education Dean obtained a Doctor of Laws from the University of Melbourne. After graduating and before entering politics, Dean worked as a lawyer. Career In 1992, Dean, a long-time Liberal Party activist, obtained preselection for the marginal Labor Party seat of Berwick; and, in the wake of the 1992 Kennett landslide, he easily defeated former Treasurer Robert Jolly. After the re-election of the Kennett government in 1996 Dean was promoted to the position of Parliamentary Secretary for Justice which he held until the Liberals lost government at the 1999 election. Leslie Cochrane
Leslie James Cochrane (29 August 1894 – 25 April 1972) was an Australian politician. He was born in East Brighton to gardener David Cochrane and Lucy Harriett Burgess. He moved to Caldermeade with his family at the age of eight, and served with the AIF in World War I on the Western Front, where he was seriously wounded. As a soldier settler he was granted land at Kooweerup, where he became a dairy farmer. In December 1919 he married Ivy Mary Wildes, with whom he had two children. He served on Cranbourne Shire Council from 1930 to 1964, with four terms as president (1935–36, 1946, 1949–50, 1957–58). In 1950 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Country Party member for Gippsland West. He was party whip from 1961 to 1970, when he retired from politics. He has been a Liberal Party of Australia Member of the Parliament of Victoria since 2006, representing Northern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council (2006–2014) and Bulleen in the Legislative Assembly (2014–present). The electoral district of Gembrook was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was situated on the edge of metropolitan Melbourne. Included within its boundaries were Emerald, Cockatoo, Gembrook, Beaconsfield, and sizeable parts of Berwick and Pakenham. The district formerly extended north to Yarra Valley communities such as Warburton and Launching Place prior to the seat's redistribution at the 2014 election. The electorate was created in 2002, replacing the abolished electorates of Pakenham (which had its namesake moved into Bass) and Berwick. The 1999 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 18 September 1999, was for the 54th Parliament of Victoria. It was held in the Australian state of Victoria to elect the 88 members of the state's Legislative Assembly and 22 members of the 44-member Legislative Council. The Liberal–National Coalition led by Jeff Kennett and Pat McNamara, which had held majority government since the 1996 election, lost 15 seats and its majority due mainly to a swing against it in rural and regional Victoria. The Labor Party, led by Steve Bracks, although also not having majority of the seats, took government due to support from three rural independents.
