Kenneth B. Hobson
Kenneth Burton Hobson (June 1, 1908 – July 20, 1979) was a general in the United States Air Force. He was also the former commander of the Air Force Logistics Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Biography Hobson was born in Mount Carmel, Illinois, in 1908. After graduating from Ashland High School in Ashland, Oregon, in 1925, he attended the University of Oregon and the Southern Oregon Normal School. In July 1928 he entered the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York and on June 10, 1932, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the infantry. In November 1933, Hobson received his pilot wings after graduating from primary and advanced flying schools at Randolph and Kelly fields, Texas. He was transferred to the United States Army Air Corps on February 16, 1934. Kenneth's first assignment was with the 73rd Pursuit Squadron at March Field, California. Mount Carmel, Illinois
Mount Carmel is a city in and the county seat of Wabash County, Illinois, United States. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 7,284, and it is the largest city in the county. The next largest town in Wabash County is Allendale, population 475. Located at the confluence of the Wabash, Patoka, and White rivers, Mount Carmel borders both Gibson and Knox counties of Indiana. Kelly Air Force Base
Kelly Field (formerly Kelly Air Force Base) is a Joint-Use facility located in San Antonio, Texas. It was originally named after George E. M. Kelly, the first member of the U.S. military killed in the crash of an airplane he was piloting. In 2001, pursuant to Base Realignment and Closure, BRAC action, the former Kelly AFB runway and land west of the runway became "Kelly Field" and control of this reduced size installation was transferred to the adjacent Lackland Air Force Base, part of Joint Base San Antonio. The South West Pacific theatre, during World War II, was a major theatre of the war between the Allies and the Axis. Fort Douglas, Utah
Camp Douglas was established in October 1862, during the American Civil War, as a small military garrison about three miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah, to protect the overland mail route and telegraph lines along the Central Overland Route. In 1878, the post was renamed Fort Douglas. It was officially closed in 1991 pursuant to BRAC action and most of the property was turned over to the University of Utah. Many of the fort's buildings are preserved and used by the university for a variety of purposes. Hamilton Field, California
Hamilton Field (Hamilton AFB) was a United States Air Force base, which was inactivated in 1973, decommissioned in 1974, and put into a caretaker status with the Air Force Reserves until 1976. It was transferred to the United States Army in 1983 and was designated an Army Airfield until its BRAC closure in 1988. It is located along the western shore of San Pablo Bay in the southern portion of Novato, in Marin County, California. Albrook Air Force Station is a former United States Air Force facility in Panama. It was closed on 30 September 1997 as a result of the Torrijos-Carter Treaties which specified that United States military facilities in the former Panama Canal Zone be closed and the facilities be turned over to the Panamanian government.
