Kendo Around The World
Kendo originated in Japan, but is today practiced worldwide. The size and depth of kendo skill varies widely from country to country. Some countries have few kendo practitioners, while Japan has several million. Generally, kendo has stronger traditions in countries with strong historical ties to Japan, like Korea and Taiwan, as well as countries with large Japanese immigrant communities such as the United States, Canada and Brazil. While the term kendo is used all over the world, the term Kumdo is used in Korea. Kendo
is a modern Japanese martial art, descended from kenjutsu (one of the old Japanese martial arts, swordsmanship), that uses bamboo swords (shinai) as well as protective armor (bōgu). Today, it is widely practiced within Japan and has spread to many other nations across the world. History Swordsmen in Japan established schools of '' kenjutsu'' (the ancestor of kendo). National Kendo Federation Of Armenia
The National Kendo Federation of Armenia ( hy, Հայաստանի ազգային քենդո ֆեդերացիա) is the regulating body of kendo in Armenia, governed by the Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. About Armenian kendo athletes participate in various international kendo championships, the Federation also hosts national level competitions. In October 2018, the Kendo Federation took part in a Martial Arts Festival organized by the embassy of Japan in Yerevan. In August 2019, the Federation participated in the 8th International Kendo Seminar, held in Tbilisi. Dan Rank
The ranking system is used by many Japanese, Okinawan, Korean, and other martial art organizations to indicate the level of a person's ability within a given system. Used as a ranking system to quantify skill level in a specific domain, it was originally used at a Go school during the Edo period. It is now also used in most modern Japanese fine and martial arts. Martial arts writer Takao Nakaya claims that this dan system was first applied to martial arts in Japan by Kanō Jigorō (1860–1938), the founder of judo, in 1883, and later introduced to other East Asian countries. In the modern Japanese martial arts, holders of dan ranks often wear a black belt; those of higher rank may also wear either red-and-white or red belts depending on the style. Mzuzu is the capital of Malawi's Northern Region and is the third largest city by population in Malawi.
