Kendal Calling
Kendal Calling is a music & arts festival, held annually at Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District, Cumbria in the North West of England. It has grown from a two-day, 900 capacity event in 2006 to a 25,000 capacity 4-day music festival. Kendal Calling has 9 stages and has featured live performances from notable artists such as Blondie, Pendulum, Doves, Dizzee Rascal, James, Mumford & Sons, Calvin Harris and British Sea Power. In 2010 Kendal Calling was awarded the Best Small UK Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, as voted by the public. Cumbria
Cumbria ( ) is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in North West England, bordering Scotland. Mumford & Sons is a British folk rock band formed in London in 2007. How’s My Pop
Hows My Pop were a four-piece, indie rock band from Lancaster, England. Career The band formed late 2005 and after a few weeks of writing songs together they organised their first show in Lancaster. Soon after their first show they received radio coverage on BBC Radio Lancashire from DJ Sean Mcginty. In the summer of 2006, Hows My Pop were invited to play the first ever Kendal Calling festival alongside such acts as Little Man Tate and British Sea Power. Following a TV appearance on ''City Life Social'' on Channel M in 2006, they played shows at Dpercussion and In The City festivals in Manchester, and supported acts such as The View at The Night and Day Café, The Holloways and The Research. White Rose Movement
White Rose Movement were a post-punk/ electro band from London, England. The band was named after the German anti-Nazi resistance movement White Rose. They mixed the post-punk style and attitude of early bands of the genre such as Joy Division, the Sound, Killing Joke and the Chameleons with a more New Romantic image reminiscent of bands like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and A Flock of Seagulls. History White Rose Movement was formed from an earlier unsuccessful group named Arturo. Little Man Tate are a British four-piece indie rock band from Sheffield, England who formed in 2005. The band quickly began attracting interest from several record labels and in March 2006 signed to V2 Records. Their fifth single, " Sexy in Latin" was released on 22 January 2007 and became their highest-charting single to date. The band parted ways with their label in November 2007 following the acquisition of V2 by Universal Music Group and subsequently signed with Skint Records. The band made extensive use of the Internet to gather a fanbase. Like many other up and coming bands they made use of MySpace as well as their own forum to communicate with and co-ordinate fans. Kendal Castle
Kendal Castle is a medieval fortification to the east of the town of Kendal, Cumbria, in northern England. The castle, which is atop a glacial drumlin, was built in the 13th century as the Caput baroniae for the Barony of Kendal. By the 15th century, the Parr family owned the castle. History The castle was built in the late 12th century as the home of the Lancaster family who were Barons of Kendal. The best-known family associated with the castle was the Parr family; including Queen Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII of England. Kendal
Kendal, once Kirkby in Kendal or Kirkby Kendal, is a market town and civil parish in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England, south-east of Windermere and north of Lancaster. Historically in Westmorland, it lies within the dale of the River Kent, from which its name is derived.
