Keda, Georgia
Keda ( ka, ქედა ) is an urban-type settlement ( ''daba'') in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, in southwestern Georgia, located east of the regional capital Batumi. The town of 1,285 residents (2021) is the administrative centre of the Keda Municipality, and is located at the confluence of the Acharistsqali (literally "river of Adjara") and Akavreta rivers, at an elevation of above sea level. The town has administrative, educational and health facilities, small businesses, and a museum of local history. Keda was a trading post in the 19th century. It was given the status of ''daba'' in 1966. Population At the beginning of 2021, Keda had a population of 1,285, a decrease of 15% since the 2014 census. Keda ( ka, ქედის მუნიციპალიტეტი), ''Keda Municiṕaliťeťi'') is a municipality in Georgia's southwestern autonomous republic of Adjara with a population of 16,700 people (2021). It covers an area of and the ''daba'' ('Urban-type settlement') Keda is its administrative centre. Historical monuments in the municipality include the medieval Orthodox churches at Makhuntseti, Zesopeli, and Namonastrevi, and the bridges of Tsoniarisi and Dandalo. KEDA (1540 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to San Antonio, Texas, United States, the station serves the San Antonio area. The station is currently owned by Claro Communications. History KEDA (1540 AM) founded on March 17, 1966, by Manuel G. Davila. KEDA is regarded by some as one of the first Tejano Music radio stations in the United States. Davila's first words on the opening day of his station were "KEDA está en el aire." From its founding KEDA committed to the goal of supporting the local tejano bands of San Antonio. This goal has been attributed by some to the lack of airtime given to Tejano bands in the 1960s. ''Gormenghast'' is a fantasy series by British author Mervyn Peake, about the inhabitants of Castle Gormenghast, a sprawling, decaying, Gothic structure. Keida ( he, קידה), also transcribed Kida, is an Israeli outpost in the West Bank named after a genus of flower that grows in the region. It is situated just off the Allon Road, a five-minute drive east of Shilo, which is the mother-town of these outposts. It forms one of six Israeli outposts, built on land seized from the Palestinian villages of Jalud, Qaryut, Turmus Ayya and al-Mughayir.
