The 2008 Kazakhstan First Division was the 14th edition of Kazakhstan First Division, the second level football competition in Kazakhstan. Unlike the previous years, number of teams were shortened, due to creation of reserve teams league for Premier League teams. Thus, this season 14 teams started to play against each other on home-away system. Two best teams gain promotion to the Premier League next season. 2009 Kazakhstan Premier League
The 2009 Kazakhstan Premier League was the 18th season of the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest football league competition in Kazakhstan. It started on 7 March 2009 and ended in November 2009. Aktobe were the defending champions. Changes from 2008 Team changes Energetik-2 were relegated to the First Division after finishing in 14th place. FC Atyrau, who originally were going to be demoted as well, were spared because of the withdrawal of Alma-Ata in December 2008. Kazakhmys and Taraz finished the 2008 season of the First Division in first two places and were therefore promoted to the Premier League. After the withdrawal of Alma-Ata, the club merged with fellow Almaty team Megasport to create a new side called Lokomotiv. The club is based in Astana. FC Shakhter-Bulat ( kk, Шахтер–Болат футбол клубы, Shakhter–Bolat fýtbol klýby) is a Kazakhstani Football (soccer), football club based in Temirtau. It was previously known as FC Bolat CSKA (2004) and FC Bolat MSK(2005). It currently plays as the farm club of FC Shakhter Karagandy, Shakhter Karagandy. History Formed as Metallurg, the club was known as Stroitel between 1969 and 1977 before adopting their current name. They were a leading side in the Soviet-era game, winning the Kazakh SSR Cup seven times, including five consecutive triumphs between 1972 and 1976. FC Caspiy
Football Club Caspiy ( kk, Каспий Ақтау Футбол Клубы, ''Kaspıı Aqtaý Fýtbol Klýby'') is a Kazakhstani football club based at the Zhastar Stadium in Aktau. The club name derived from Caspian Sea ( kk, Каспий теңізі). Their best year was 1996, when they finished 4th in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the Kazakhstan Cup. FC Spartak Semey ( kk, Spartak Fýtbol Klýby) is a Kazakh football club based in Semey. A leading club in the early years of the Kazakhstan Premier League, and under the name ''Yelimay Semipalatinsk'' (or simply "Yelimay") they were three-time champions of Kazakhstan in 1994, 1995 and 1998. Football Club Kairat ( kk, Qaırat Fýtbol Klýby) is a professional association football, football club based in Almaty, which plays in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest level of Football in Kazakhstan, Kazakh football.
