Kayla Steindl
Kayla Maria Steindl (née Standish; born November 19, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Hobart Chargers of the NBL1 South. The Ellensburg, Washington native played four years of college basketball for Gonzaga before moving to Australia to play in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). College career Steindl, a two-time All- West Coast Conference honoree, helped Gonzaga to its third-straight NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2011–12. She averaged a team-best 16.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a senior, while shooting an impressive 48.0 percent (214-of-446) from the field and 78.9 percent (127-of-161) at the charity stripe. She exploded in the 2012 post-season, averaging 23.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the Zags' five games, including three NCAA Tournament contests. Forward (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. State Basketball League
NBL1 West, formerly the State Basketball League (SBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Western Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Western Australia partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Western Australia. NBL1 replaced the former SBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Western Australia. 2020 WNBL Season
The 2020 WNBL season was the 41st season of the competition since its establishment in 1981. The Canberra Capitals were the two-time defending champions, but were defeated in the Semi-Finals by Melbourne. The Southside Flyers won the Grand Final, defeating the Townsville Fire, 99–82. The Flyers took home the franchise's fourth WNBL title overall, this being their first since rebranding as ''Southside''. 2019 WSBL Season
The 2019 WSBL season was the 31st season of the Women's State Basketball League (SBL). The regular season began on Friday 15 March, with round 1 seeing a 2018 grand final rematch between the Lakeside Lightning and Mandurah Magic. The 2019 WSBL All-Star Game was played on 3 June at Bendat Basketball Centre – the home of basketball in Western Australia. The regular season ended on Saturday 27 July. The finals began on Friday 2 August and ended on Friday 30 August, when the Rockingham Flames defeated the Warwick Senators in the WSBL Grand Final. The 2017–18 WNBL season was the 38th season of the competition since its establishment in 1981. The regular season began on 5 October 2017, with the Melbourne Boomers visiting the Dandenong Rangers. The Sydney Uni Flames were the defending champions but were defeated in the Semi Finals by Townsville. The Townsville Fire took home their third WNBL championship after defeating Melbourne, 2–0. This season sees the return to television, with Fox Sports broadcasting the WNBL for the first time since 2015. The 2016–17 WNBL season is the 37th season of competition since its establishment in 1981. The regular season begins on October 7, 2016 when the Sydney Uni Flames host the Perth Lynx and is scheduled to conclude on February 19, 2017. Townsville Fire were the two-time defending champions, but they were defeated by the Sydney Uni Flames in the Semifinals. The Flames would go on to take home their fourth WNBL title, their first in sixteen years, after defeating the Dandenong Rangers in the final. Women's National Basketball League
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women's counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL). Several WNBL teams have NBL counterparts.
