Katie Lorna Thistleton (born 13 May 1989) is an English television and radio presenter, National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualified journalist and author, best known for her work across the CBBC channel. She presents a show on BBC Radio 1 with her co-presenter Vick Hope. Early life Born in Manchester, Thistleton attended Droylsden High School for Girls. Thistleton graduated from the University of Salford with a degree in English and Creative Writing along with fellow star Lauren Layfield, before qualifying as a NCTJ certified journalist after studying at News Associates, Manchester. Thistleton previously worked for the NHS Pennine Care mental health trust. Career Television Thistleton is best known for her work presenting in CBBC HQ, hosting the live 'bits in between the shows'. Holly Miranda Smale (born 7 December 1981) is a British writer. She wrote the ''Geek Girl'' series. The first book in the series won the 2014 Waterstones Children's Book Prize and was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2013. "The dog ate my homework" (or "My dog ate my homework") is an English expression which carries the suggestion of being a common, poorly fabricated excuse made by schoolchildren to explain their failure to turn in an assignment on time. The phrase is referenced, even beyond the educational context, as a sarcastic rejoinder to any similarly glib or otherwise insufficient or implausible explanation for a failure in any context. The claim of a dog eating one's homework is inherently suspect since it is both impossible for a teacher to disprove and conveniently absolves the student who gives that excuse of any blame.
