Katie-George Dunlevy
Katie-George Dunlevy (born 26 November 1981) is an English-born Paralympic cyclist competing in tandem events for Ireland, and formerly a pararowing competitor for Great Britain in the 4+ Mixed LTA class. Career Dunlevy won a gold medal at the time trial B event and silver in the road race at the 2016 Summer Paralympics with pilot Eve McCrystal. A multiple World medalist along with McCrystal. In 2014 Dunlevy and McCrystal won their first World Championship medal, a Silver medal in the road race. In 2015 the pair won Bronze in the 3k pursuit at the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships in Apeldorm, Netherlands. She became double World Champion at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in September 2017 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. A year later in 2018 in Maniago, Italy she retained both titles becoming double World Champion again with McCrystal. Crawley
Crawley () is a large town and borough in West Sussex, England. It is south of London, north of Brighton and Hove, and north-east of the county town of Chichester. Crawley covers an area of and had a population of 106,597 at the time of the 2011 Census. The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and was a centre of ironworking in Roman times. 2005 World Rowing Championships
The 2005 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 29 August to 4 September 2005 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course in Kaizu, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The international rowing season usually ends with the World Championship regatta. Apart from the Olympic Games, this is the most prestigious international rowing event attracting over 1,000 rowers. World Rowing Championships
The World Rowing Championships is an international rowing regatta organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It is a week-long event held at the end of the northern hemisphere summer and in non-Olympic years is the highlight of the international rowing calendar. History The first event was held in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1962. The event then was held every four years until 1974, when it became an annual competition. Also in 1974, Men's lightweight and Women's open weight events were added to the championships. Initially, Men's events were 2000 metres long and Women's events 1000 metres. Adaptive Rowing
Pararowing (or adaptive rowing) is a category of rowing race for those with physical, visual or intellectual disabilities. History In 1913, rowing for individuals with disabilities was initiated by headmaster George Clifford Brown at Worcester College for the Blind in Great Britain. Brown encouraged blind students to participate in particular sports in which they would be able to compete at an equal level to sighted players and do so without modifications. Other organizations dedicated to rehabilitating the blind, such as St. Dunstan's Hostel, started rowing clubs shortly afterwards in 1915. 2023 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships
The 2023 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships were held from 2 to 8 August 2023, at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It was held as part of the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships. The event was held as part of an integrated programme with the 2023 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, which began, and will end, a day later. 2018 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships
The 2018 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships were the World Championships for track cycling with athletes with a physical disability. The Championships took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 22–25 March 2018. 31 events were held on the track. The championships Brazil hosted the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships for the first time, at the Rio Olympic Velodrome located at the Barra Olympic and Paralympic Park. The Championship was also the first one to mark points for the ranking that will select the Tokyo Paralympic Games athletes. The velodrome's 250m Siberian pine track is banked to an angle of 12 degrees at its shallowest point and 42 degrees at its steepest point. The capacity is approximately 5,600.
