Cascais () is a town and municipality in the Lisbon District of Portugal, located on the Portuguese Riviera. The municipality has a total of 214,158 inhabitants in an area of 97.40 km2. Thomas Frühwirth
Thomas Frühwirth (born 12 August 1981) is an Austrian Para-cyclist who represented Austria at the Paralympic Games. Early life Thomas Frühwirth was born on a farm in southeast Styria, Austria. He has three brothers. At the age of 15 he started Enduro sports. He completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and car electrician, worked in development at Steyr Daimler Puch and later at the motorcycle manufacturer KTM AG. In 2004 he had a motorcycle accident while on vacation in Poland. The result was incomplete paraplegia. Career Frühwirth represented Austria in the men's road time trial H4 and road race H4 events at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and won a silver medal in time trial. Jetze Plat
Jetze Plat (born 10 June 1991 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch para-cyclist in the H4 class. He also competes in the paratriathlon. Career Plat was born with two stunted legs. In 1995, Plat started using a handcycle, to cycle to school. Later he started practising the sport para-cycling. In the beginning of his athletic career Plat was coached and trained by Kees van Breukelen. As Plat improved in the sport he was coached by Ralf Bekers. During the World Cup in Rome, Plat qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. In the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, Plat competed in both cycling and para-triathlon. He won the paratriathlon gold medal in the PT1 class. He also won a bronze medal in the Men's Road Race in H5 class. These were his first Paralympic medals. Michael Teuber (born 23 January 1968) is a German para-cyclist competing in C1 classification events. Teuber has represented Germany in four Summer Paralympic Games and is a multiple medal winner in both road and track disciplines. He has been named male German disability Sportsperson of the year on two occasions and is a Laureus World Sports Awards winner. Personal history Teuber was born in Tegernsee, Germany in 1968. In August 1987, at the age of 19, he was involved in a car accident in France. The injuries he sustained from that incident resulted in an incomplete paraplegia to the lumbar spine, and complete paralysis below the knee joint. He spent the three years after the accident in a wheelchair. Teuber was a nominee for the Laureus Award in 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2010. Mikhail Yevgenyevich Astashov (russian: Михаил Евгеньевич Асташов; born 16 October 1988) is a Russian Paralympic track cyclist and road cyclist, as well as a paratriathlete. He is a two-time Paralympic champion. Biography Astashov was born 16 October 1988 in the village of Khandagay. When he was a few days old, he was taken away from his parents, after physicians and aid workers urged them to send him to a baby house, wondering, why they need such a child without hands and feet and assuring them, he won't live long anyway.
