Karl Ifwersen
Karl Donald Ifwersen (1893–1967) was a New Zealand rugby football player who represented New Zealand in both rugby league and rugby union. Early years Karl Donald Ifwersen was born on January 6 in Auckland, New Zealand. His parents were Charles Ernest Ifwersen (1868-1910), and Margaret Marion Bedell (1869-1944). He had 6 siblings; Margaret Zeka Ifwersen (1894-1944), Roy Ifwersen (1896-1940), Doris Norma Ifwersen (1899-1989), Esme Ifwersen (1901-1937), Alfred Neil Sinclair Ifwersen (1904-1963), and Mary Clyde Ifwersen (1907-1988). His brother Roy was also an accomplished senior rugby player who played with Karl at times. Ifwersen attended both St John's College and Auckland Grammar. He originally played for North Shore as a junior before moving to the new College Rifles rugby union club and was instrumental in helping the team win back-to-back junior championships in their first two years in ARFU competition. 1916 Auckland Rugby League Season
The 1916 Auckland Rugby League season was the 8th year of the organisation. All grades were dramatically affected by players enlisting in the war efforts. Prior to the commencement of the season it was stated in the management committee meeting that 487 players in the Auckland district alone had committed to the war effort. Teams were filled with older players and juniors. The Otahuhu senior team as was noted at their committee meeting featured “only three men eligible for military service..., and these were all registered and waiting to be called up. Of the remainder, six were married men with families, two were permanent force men, and four were under military age”. Despite this attendances were still good, with the mid season match between City Rovers and Grafton Athletic at Victoria Park attracting 3,000 spectators. Sonny Bill Williams
Sonny Bill Williams (born 3 August 1985) is a New Zealand heavyweight boxer, and a former professional rugby league and rugby union player and as of recently is working for Stan Sports. He is only the List of dual-code rugby internationals#New Zealand, second person to represent New Zealand in rugby union after first playing for the country in rugby league, and is one of only 21 List of winners of multiple Rugby World Cups, players to have won the Rugby World Cup twice. Innes "Bunny" Finlayson (4 July 1899 – 29 January 1980) was a New Zealand rugby union player who represented the national team, the All Blacks, between 1925 and 1930. His position of choice was flanker. Born in Maungaturoto in 1899, Finlayson was educated at Maungaturoto School. He died in Whangarei in 1980, and was buried at Maunu Cemetery.
