Karl Haanshus
Karl Harald Adolf Haanshus (December 26, 1860 – January 3, 1936) was a Norwegian physician and entomologist. He joined the Norwegian Entomological Society in 1915. He was its vice chairman from 1933 to 1935, and he was also a member of the editorial committee of the '' Norwegian Journal of Entomology''. Haanshus was born in Kristiania (now Oslo). He received a medical degree in 1888 and practiced for ten years as a city physician () in Fredrikstad. He then moved back to Kristiania, where he worked as a pediatrician until his death on January 3, 1936. Haanshus took an early interest in nature and insects, especially butterflies. He also processed the material from Ørjan Olsen's expedition to Siberia, Carl Sofus Lumholtz's trip to Borneo, and Alf Wollebæk's expedition to the Galápagos Islands. Nesodden
Nesodden is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Follo. The administrative centre of the municipality is Nesoddtangen. Alf Wollebæk
Alf Wollebæk (8 January 1879 – 9 March 1960) was a Norwegian zoologist and curator. Personal life Wollebæk was born in Lier to colonel Sigurd Polidor Wollebæk (1835–1920) and his wife Anine Julie Augusta Dahl (1834–1912). His elder brother was jurist and diplomatist Johan Wollebæk (1875–1940). He was married twice; first in 1903 to Agnes Hanssen (1879–1930; sister of sports executive Carl Frølich Hanssen), and in 1932 to Ruth Jensen (1891–1958). Career After graduating in Fredrikstad in 1898, he received a job at the experimental station in Drøbak with marine biologist Johan Hjort (1869–1948). From 1900 to 1907 he was a zoologist at the Society of Norwegian Fisheries Promotion in Bergen. Carl Sofus Lumholtz (23 April 1851 – 5 May 1922) was a Norwegian explorer and ethnographer, best known for his meticulous field research and ethnographic publications on indigenous cultures of Australia and Mexico. Biography Born in Fåberg, Norway, Lumholtz graduated in theology in 1876 from the Royal Frederick University, now the University of Oslo. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad.
