Kangaroo Island Council
The Kangaroo Island Council is a local government area in South Australia that covers the entirety of Kangaroo Island, 13 km off the coast of the mainland. The council was formed on the 28 November 1996 by the amalgamation of the District Council of Kingscote and the District Council of Dudley. Its first meeting held on 11 December 1996. The seat of the council is located in the island's largest town, Kingscote. The district's population at the 2016 census was approximately 4,700. Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island, also known as Karta Pintingga (literally 'Island of the Dead' in the language of the Kaurna people), is Australia's third-largest island, after Tasmania and Melville Island. It lies in the state of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide. Its closest point to the mainland is Snapper Point in Backstairs Passage, which is from the Fleurieu Peninsula. The native population of Aboriginal Australians that once occupied the island (sometimes referred to as the Kartan people) disappeared from the archaeological record sometime after the land became an island following the rising sea levels associated with the Last Glacial Period around 10,000 years ago. Cassini, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Cassini is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the north coast of Kangaroo Island overlooking Investigator Strait about south-west of the state capital of Adelaide and about from the municipal seat of Kingscote. Its boundaries were created in 2002 in respect to “the long established name” which is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Cassini. The principal land use is agriculture with a small amount of land being zoned for conservation. The latter use consists of the protected areas of the Lathami Conservation Park and the Parndana Conservation Park, and the strip of land along the coastline. The locality includes the former Cassini Station Complex and Mulberry Tree which is listed on the South Australian Heritage Register. Cape Borda, South Australia

Its boundaries were created in 2002 in respect to “the long established name” which is reported to be derived from the navigation aid within its boundaries - the Cape Borda Lightstation. The major land uses within the locality includes conservation and primary production with the former land use including the following protected areas - the Flinders Chase National Park, the Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Protection Area and the Cape Torrens Wilderness Protection Area. Brownlow KI, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Brownlow KI is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the north coast of Kangaroo Island overlooking the body of water known as Nepean Bay about south of the state capital of Adelaide and about south of the municipal seat of Kingscote. The name was first used for a government town which was surveyed in January 1882 and proclaimed during June 1882. Boundaries for the locality which include the former government town were created in March 2002 for the “long established name.” The name is reported as being derived from Field Marshal Sir Charles Henry Brownlow.
