Kananook Railway Station
Kananook railway station is a commuter railway station on the Frankston line, which is part of the Melbourne railway network. It serves the south-eastern suburb of Seaford, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Kananook station is a ground level unstaffed station, featuring an island platform. It opened on 25 August 1975, with the current station provided in 2007. History Kananook station opened on 25 August 1975, and was named after the nearby Kananook Creek. To accommodate the station and allow construction, in March 1974, the up and down lines were slewed. At the same time, the current Klauer Street overpass, located at the up end of the station, was provided, replacing the Wells Road level crossing. EastLink is a tolled section of the M3 freeway linking a large area through the eastern and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. EastLink is electronically tolled with no cash booths, using a system developed by SICE. The SICE Tolling System is similar to (and interoperable with) the '' e-TAG'' system used on the CityLink tollway. The Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS) has been a railway organisation concerned with history and preservation of railway heritage at a national level. It has had divisions in every state and the Australian Capital Territory, although the ACT division was wound up in 2016, along with the Victorian division in 2020. Since 1967, when each division incorporated, the state divisions operated as separate entities.
