Eesti Televisioon (ETV) ( en, Estonian Television) is an Estonian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Estonian Public Broadcasting. It made its first broadcast on 19 July 1955. History Eesti Televisioon (''Estonian Television'') was launched on 19 July 1955. Before that, television broadcasts in Estonia could only be received from Moscow. The very first Estonian-language TV presenter was Ofelia Mikk, whose debut was in the 19 July 1955 test broadcast. Her tenure in television was cut short, because she misspoke out of nervousness. The first tenured presenter for the nascent ETV was Ruth Peramets-Püss (1927–2005). To find a presenter, a casting competition was held in 1955, but no suitable person was found. Silvi Vrait
Silvi Vrait (28 April 1951 – 28 June 2013) was an Estonian singer and music teacher. Biography Vrait was born in Kehra in 1951 to Einar "Edward" Wright, a Minnesota-born American of Finland, Finnish ancestry and his Estonian wife Senta (née Schönberg). She had a half-sister, Pille, five years her senior. Vrait graduated from the Kehra Music School in 1968 on piano. In 1974 she graduated from the University of Tartu with a degree in English philology. From 1994, she taught English in a secondary school in Tallinn. Anne Veski
Anne Veski (born Anne Vaarmann; 27 February 1956) is an Estonian pop singer who has recorded music in both her native language as well as Russian. Biography Anne Veski was born as Anne Vaarmann in Rapla, Estonia. She graduated from the musical school in the town, after which she entered the Tallinn University of Technology. Upon finishing her education, she became a professional singer and started working as a soloist with the ensembles Mobile and Vitamiin. Marju Länik
Marju Länik (born 7 September 1957, Otepää) is an Estonian singer. Biography Länik began singing in the early 1970s in her hometown of Otepää. In 1975, he graduated from Otepää Secondary School and in the summer of the same year she became a soloist of the Estonian National Philharmonic. Greater recognition came at the end of the decade in participating at the Eesti Televisioon programme "Kaks Takti Ette" and being in the music film "Suveviisid Võrtsjärvel". At the same time, she was a soloist in the Tallinn Philharmonic Orchestra's version of Vana Toomas, singing with sisters Ele Kõlar and Kaja Kõlar. Maian Kärmas
Maian-Anna Kärmas (born Maian-Anna Kärmas, 25 February 1978 in Tallinn) is an Estonian singer, songwriter, and journalist. Kärmas had her debut as a soloist in 1995 at ''Kaks takti ette'', a contest for debutant singers, organized by Eesti Televisioon (ETV). She placed 2nd, losing to Tiiu Tulp. Gerli Padar (born 6 November 1979) is an Estonian singer and actress. She represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. Ewert Sundja
Ewert and The Two Dragons is an Estonian indie-rock band. The line-up consists of vocalist Ewert Sundja, guitarist Erki Pärnoja, drummer Kristjan Kallas, and bassist Ivo Etti. Their debut album ''The Hills Behind The Hills'' was released in 2009. The follow-up '' Good Man Down'' was recorded at the beginning of 2011 and was released in April on I Love You Records. The group's third album, ''Circles'', was released in 2015 on Sire Records. They have gained recognition in the Baltic states as well as in several other European countries.
