Kakhi Kavsadze
Kakhi Kavsadze ( ''K’akhi K’avsadze''; June 5, 1935 – April 27, 2021) was a Georgian and Soviet film, television and stage actor. Early life He was born in Tbilisi. After his birth, his parents moved to Tkibuli. His father David Kavsadze was a choirleader who, while serving in the Red Army during World War II, was taken prisoner, led a choir in the prison camp, and helped to save the lives of many Georgian prisoners, but after the war was charged with treason and exiled to Sverdlovsk Oblast. Moscow International Film Festival
The Moscow International Film Festival (russian: Моско́вский междунаро́дный кинофестива́ль, translit. ''Moskóvskiy myezhdunaródniy kinofyestivál''; abbreviated as MIFF) is the film festival first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. From its inception to 1959 it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1999. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films, translated as the International Federation of Film Producers Associations) paused the accreditation of the festival until further notice. ''Repentance'' ( ka, მონანიება, Monanieba translit. ''Monanieba'', russian: Покаяние, Pokayaniye) is a 1984 Georgian Soviet art film directed by Tengiz Abuladze. The film was produced in 1984, however, it was banned from release in the Soviet Union for its semi-allegorical critique of Stalinism. It premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, winning the FIPRESCI Prize, Grand Prize of the Jury, and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. The film was selected as the Soviet entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 60th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. In Slavic mythology, vodyanoy or vodyanoi ( rus, водяно́й, p=vədʲɪˈnoj; lit. ' efrom the water' or 'watery') is a water spirit. In Czech and Slovak fairy tales, it is called ''vodník'' (or in Germanized form: ), and it is considered to be the equivalent creature as the Wassermann or nix of German fairy tales.
