Semenu Kafui Bekui is a Ghanaian civil servant, and a former district chief executive of the South Dayi District in the Volta Region of Ghana. Kafui Bekui worked as a fish scientist with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana before going into politics. He was based at the Volta Regional Agricultural Development Programme (VORADEP) at Ho. South Dayi District
South Dayi District is one of the eighteen districts in Volta Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Kpando District on 10 March 1989, until the southern part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 19 August 2004 to create South Dayi District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Kpando District (which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 28 June 2012 to become Kpando Municipal District). The district assembly is located in the western part of Volta Region and has Kpeve as its capital town. Background The is one of the eighteen districts in the Volta Region of Ghana. John Atta Mills
John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills (21 July 1944 β 24 July 2012) was a Ghanaian politician and legal scholar who served as President of Ghana from 2009 until his death in 2012. He was inaugurated on 7 January 2009, having defeated the governing party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 election. He was previously the Vice-President from 1997 to 2001 under President Jerry Rawlings, and he contested unsuccessfully in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections as the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Woyiram Boakye-Danquah
Woyram Boakye-Danquah is an Administrator and the former District Chief Executive of the South Dayi District in the Volta Region of Ghana. Boakye-Danquah worked in various administrative roles prior to engaging in politics. She was nominated by President John Kufuor in 2005 for the position of District Chief Executive of the newly created South Dayi District. She remained in this position until the Kufuor government was replaced following the Ghanaian presidential election in December 2008. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'Γ©tat on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. Volta Region
Volta Region (or Volta) is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. Joseph Amenowode
Joseph Zaphenat Amenowode is a Ghanaian politician and academic. He was the Member of Parliament for Hohoe South and was the Minister for the Volta Region of Ghana from January 2009 until his dismissal on 6 March 2012. He has worked as a university lecturer prior to going into politics. Early life in education Amenowode's family hails from Ve-Deme in the Hohoe Municipal District of the Volta Region.
