They are owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. with studios located in Davenport, Iowa, and a transmitter located near Port Byron, Illinois. History Early history (1976-1998) The station began life in February 1976 as WEMO ("EMO" standing for East Moline) and playing adult contemporary music. WOC (1420 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial AM radio, AM radio station, City of license, licensed to Davenport, Iowa, and serving the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. WOC is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. KROS
KROS (1340 AM) is a commercial radio station serving the Clinton, Iowa area. The station primarily broadcasts a Variety format featuring oldies, sports and news. KROS is licensed to KROS Broadcasting, Inc. and is a CBS news affiliate. History Prior to CBS, KROS aired hourly news from CNN, and had also been an affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System until that network's demise. The station began broadcasting in 1941, and was in AM Stereo at one time. Davenport is a city in and the county seat of Scott County, Iowa, United States. Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter. It is the total power in watts that would have to be radiated by a half-wave dipole antenna to give the same radiation intensity (signal strength or power flux density in watts per square meter) as the actual source antenna at a distant receiver located in the direction of the antenna's strongest beam (main lobe). Clinton is a city in and the county seat of Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 24,469 as of 2020. Clinton, along with DeWitt (also located in Clinton County), was named in honor of the sixth governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton.
