KHSL-FM (103.5 MHz, "The Blaze") is a country music formatted radio station based in Chico, California. It is owned and operated by Deer Creek Broadcasting and Digital Interactive LLC, which also owns News-Talk 93.9 KPAY-FM (formerly KFMF-FM), KPAY Fox Sports 1290 AM /102.9 FM, Mix 95.1 Lite Rock KMXI-FM, KZAP-FM 96.7 Classic Rock and formerly owner of Regional Spanish station KHHZ-FM 97.7 (known as La Gran X/Radio Mexico), now owned by Bustos Media. The station's partner and general manager is longtime Chico media personality Dino Corbin, who served as general manager at KHSL-TV for over 20 years and has served the community in broadcasting for 50 years. The program director and morning personality is Mike Wessels. Paradise, California
Paradise is a town in Butte County, California, United States in the Sierra Nevada foothills above the northeastern Sacramento Valley. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 4,764. On November 8, 2018, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise and much of the adjacent communities of Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Concow. After the Camp Fire, the population declined by more than 90%. In January 2019, the state of California reported 4,600 residents, and a door-to-door count in April 2019 found 2,034. History The first post office was established at Paradise in 1877. It closed for a time in 1911, but was re-established later that year, when the post office at Orloff was closed. KPAY (1290 AM) is a sports formatted radio station in Northern California. The station can be heard in Butte County, California, and parts of Tehama County, Glenn County, and Colusa County. The station's transmitter power is 5,000 watts and is located in Chico, California. The station is owned by Deer Creek Broadcasting, LLC. Leon Eric Brooks III, better known by his stage name Kix Brooks (born May 12, 1955), is an American country music artist, actor, and film producer best known for being one half of the duo Brooks & Dunn and host of radio's ''American Country Countdown''. Prior to the duo's foundation, he was a singer and songwriter, charting twice on Hot Country Songs and releasing an album for Capitol Records. Brooks and Ronnie Dunn comprised Brooks & Dunn for twenty years, then both members began solo careers. Brooks's solo career after Brooks & Dunn includes the album '' New to This Town''. Terri Lynn Sauson, known professionally as Terri Clark, born August 5, 1968, is a Canadian country music singer who has had success in both Canada and the United States. KHSL-TV (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Chico, California, United States, serving the Chico– Redding market as an affiliate of CBS and The CW Plus. ''The Moriss Taylor Show'' was one of the longest-running locally produced television shows in history. Hosted by longtime radio personality and producer Moriss Taylor, the show (based in Chico, California) was a weekly country music-variety staple featuring such musicians as Charlie Robinson, Greg Ecox, Yvonne Ambrose-Haygood, Bill Teague, Mark Alstad, Rosie Mello, Jolene Farrara, Mark Pacheco, and Mel Wilson. KZAP (96.7 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Paradise, California, with studios and offices in and broadcasting to the Chico, California, area. KZAP airs a classic rock format.
