Julienne Keutcha (21 October 1924 – 2000) was a Cameroonian politician. In 1960 she was the first woman elected to the National Assembly of French Cameroon. National Assembly (Cameroon)
The National Assembly (french: Assemblée Nationale) is the lower house of the Parliament of Cameroon. It has 180 members, elected for five-year terms in 49 single and multi-seat constituencies. Together with the senate, it constitutes the legislative arm of government. Although multiparty elections have been held since 1992, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (RDPC), the ruling party since independence, has always retained control of the National Assembly. The Cameroonian political system invests overwhelming power in the hands of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, and the RDPC exists essentially to support Biya and his policies. As a result, for most of Cameroon's history since independence, the National Assembly has done little more than approve the President's policies. Kamerun
Kamerun was an African colony of the German Empire from 1884 to 1916 in the region of today's Republic of Cameroon. Kamerun also included northern parts of Gabon and the Congo with western parts of the Central African Republic, southwestern parts of Chad and far eastern parts of Nigeria. Santchou
Santchou is a town and commune in Cameroon. It is located in the Menoua division of the South-West region of Cameroon. It is home predominantly to the Mbo people; this is reflected in the name. It is located on a plain and it is part of the region known as the Plain des Mbo. It is bordered to the north by mount manengouba to the south by the cliff of Dschang and to the east by Kekem. Villages San-nzoh is made up of several villages, these include: Mgwatta, Mbamia, Fougwoh, Mboukock, Bebong, Moyong, Mankang, Bale, Ngang, Mokot, Nden-Matock, Mbokou, Mbongo, Mogot, Nganzon, Nteingue, Nfowang, Nfonsam and Njijang. 1960 Cameroonian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Cameroon on 10 April 1960. They were the first elections held in accordance with the new constitution, approved in a referendum in February, which created a unicameral federal National Assembly. The result was a slim victory for the Cameroonian Union, forcing it to govern in coalition. However, the elections were marred by severe irregularities. The Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM; french: Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais, RDPC) is the ruling political party in Cameroon.
