Julian Hipwood
Julian Hipwood (born 23 June 1946) is a British polo player and coach.Yolanda Carslaw, 'Who’s who among polo’s star attractions', in ''The Financial Times'', July 23, 201/ref> He started his career playing association football and gradually moved on to polo. Both Julien Hipwood in 1981 and his brother Howard Hipwood in 1982 achieved a 9-goal Polo handicap. Only 55 players worldwide have been rated 9-goal by the United States Polo Association. He won the Barrantes Memorial Tournament and played on the winning team of many of Royal Palm Polo Club's 26-goal Sunshine League tournaments. In 1977–1978, he played with the Fort Lauderdale team, alongside captain Jack Oxley and players Jamie Uihlein, Bart Evans, Juan Bautista Castilla, Lito Salanito and Tom Harris. In 1978, he was a finalist in the Argentine Open, the first Englishman to do so. Polo
Polo is a ball game played on horseback, a traditional field sport and one of the world's oldest known team sports. The game is played by two opposing teams with the objective of scoring using a long-handled wooden mallet to hit a small hard ball through the opposing team's goal. Each team has four mounted riders, and the game usually lasts one to two hours, divided into periods called ''chukkas'' or "''chukkers''". Polo has been called "the sport of kings", and has become a spectator sport for equestrians and high society, often supported by sponsorship. Coronation Cup
The Coronation Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Epsom Downs over a distance of 1 mile, 4 furlongs and 6 yards (2,420 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late May or early June. History The event was established in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of a new British monarch, King Edward VII. Epsom had staged a similar race, the Epsom Gold Cup, which was open to horses aged three or older. The Coronation Cup was temporarily switched to alternative venues during wartime periods, with runnings at Newmarket (1915–16, 1943–45) and Newbury (1941). World Polo Championship
The World Polo Championship is a polo (Horse Polo) competition between countries (Up to 2022, only for men). The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the Federation of International Polo (FIP), and is contested by the national teams. There is no restriction on the gender of the players. The inaugural tournament was held in 1987, hosted by Argentina, and is now contested every three or four years. The participating teams must have a handicap up to 14 goals. Bart Evans is an American polo player. Biography Bart Evans was born in Mission, Kansas. He first played in Kansas City at the age of 18. In 1972, 1975, and 1976, he won the Butler Handicap. The same year, he won the US Handicap C.V. Whitney Cup, and in 1983, the U.S. Open Polo Championship. In 1985, he won the Monty Waterbury Cup. In 1988, he won the Westchester Cup against Australia. In 1988 and 1989, he won the US Handicap C.V. Whitney Cup again. He also won the American Cup (formerly 16 goals), the 1993 Silver Cup, the Pacific Coast Open and the International Gold Cup, and two World Polo Championships.
