The Heritage Cup is an international box lacrosse tournament between the national teams of Canada, Iroquois and United States. The games feature mostly players that were members of National Lacrosse League teams. 2002 Heritage Cup The inaugural Heritage Cup was played on October 2, 2002 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, and featured Team USA against Team Canada. The Heritage Cup is an annual cup rivalry between Major League Soccer (MLS) teams San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC. Both teams carried their names forward from their North American Soccer League (NASL) predecessors. The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Originally as the San Jose Clash, the franchise began play in 1996 as one of the charter members of the league. The Earthquakes took part in the first game in MLS history, defeating D.C. United 1–0. Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began play in 2009 as an MLS expansion team. The Sounders are a phoenix club, carrying the same name as the original Sounders franchise that competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 to 1983. The club's majority owner is Adrian Hanauer, and its minority owners are the estate of Paul Allen, Drew Carey, and 14 families from the Seattle area. NXT UK Heritage Cup
The NXT UK Heritage Cup is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. It was defended on the NXT UK brand division, a sister brand of WWE's developmental territory NXT based in the United Kingdom, but its current status is unknown. Unveiled on 10 September 2020, it is defended just like any other championship but has a special stipulation in which all matches are contested under British Rounds Rules. The inaugural champion was A-Kid. At Worlds Collide on 4 September 2022, all other NXT UK championships were unified into their respective NXT championship counterparts due to the closure of NXT UK, which will relaunch as NXT Europe in 2023. The Heritage Cup, however, was not contested at the event and there has been no announcement regarding its future, but WWE's website still lists it as active with Noam Dar as the current champion in his record-setting second reign.
