Joshua Hurlburt-Yu
Joshua Hurlburt-Yu (born 28 December 1994) is a Canadian badminton player. Joshua was a gold medalist in the mixed doubles event at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, and also at the 2019 and 2021 Pan Am Championships. Career In June 2021, Hurlburt-Yu was named to Canada's Olympic team, competing in the mixed doubles badminton event. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales). In 1981 the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF). Jaqueline Maria Lopes Lima (born 23 April 2001) is a Brazilian badminton player from Joca Claudino Esportes badminton club. She joined the Brazil national badminton team in 2016, and in 2017 she competed in the mixed team event at the 2017 Pan Am Badminton Championships where the team won silver medal. She won her first senior international title at the 2017 Brazil International Challenge tournament partnered with Sâmia Lima. Lima participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, and was part of the team Theta won the bronze medal in the mixed team event. Kristen Tsai (born 11 July 1995) is a Taiwanese born Canadian badminton player. She is the women's doubles champion at the 2019 Pan American Games, fifth time Pan Am Champion winning the women's singles title in 2012, and then the women's doubles title in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Career Tsai became the first Canadian ever to make in to the quarterfinals at the World Junior Championships. Lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, she trained at the ClearOne badminton club, and majored in criminology at the Simon Fraser University. Nyl Kiyoshi Yakura (born 14 February 1993) is a Canadian badminton player. He captured two gold medals at the Pan American Games, winning the men's doubles title in 2019 and 2023, and also a silver in the mixed doubles in 2019. Yakura, who grew up in Pickering, currently lives in Toronto and trains at the KC Badminton Club in Markham. Career Yakura competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Women's doubles badminton event at the 2019 Pan American Games will be held from July 30 – August 2nd at the Polideportivo 3 in Lima, Peru. The defending Pan American Games champion is Eva Lee and Paula Lynn Obañana Paula Lynn Cao Hok (née Obañana; born March 19, 1985) is a Filipino-American badminton player who was originally from Dumaguete, Philippines.
