Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Andy Suzuki & The Method is a rock band based in New York City led by Andy Suzuki and his songwriting partner Kozza Babumba, grandson of Grammy Award winning Nigerian drummer Babatunde Olatunji. The band formed in 2006 at Brown University, where Andy met Kozza. The band has toured in support of Ringo Starr, Eric Hutchinson, Joshua Radin, Delta Rae, Sister Hazel, Marc Broussard, Tyrone Wells, and Bernhoft, among others. Independiente is a British independent record label formed in 1997 after Andy Macdonald sold his first label Go! Discs to PolyGram in 1996 for a reported £30 million. The label, which is currently dormant, is a division of Concord Music. The label's catalogue included albums by Travis, John Martyn, Nile, Gomez, Embrace, Paul Weller and Martina Topley-Bird. In December 2013, it was confirmed that Embrace had signed to Cooking Vinyl, leaving Independiente with no current artists on its roster. The label ceased releasing music by new artists in 2009 and has subsequently transformed itself into a profitable synchronisation business, sourcing opportunities in film and advertising for its catalogue. Travis (band)
Travis are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1990, composed of Fran Healy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dougie Payne (bass guitar, backing vocals), Andy Dunlop (lead guitar, banjo, backing vocals) and Neil Primrose (drums, percussion). The band's name comes from the character Travis Henderson (played by Harry Dean Stanton) from the film ''Paris, Texas'' (1984). ''Sticks and Stones'' is the ninth studio album by the American rock band, Moe. It was released on January 22, 2008, by Fatboy Records, almost one year to the day after the release of their last studio album, '' The Conch''. It was the first Moe album to also be released on vinyl. History In the fall of 2007, Moe rented an old church/cathedral in the New England area where they could record new material at their leisure. ''Time Turns Elastic'' is an album by Trey Anastasio consisting mainly of his work by the same name for orchestra, electric guitar, and vocals. Written with composer and arranger Don Hart, it was recorded in the autumn of 2008 by Anastasio, Hart, and the Northwest Sinfonia. The album also features a solo demo version performed by Anastasio on acoustic guitar. Anastasio began writing the piece in 2006 in preparation for a potential Phish reunion, which was announced in October 2008. Days before the reunion announcement, Anastasio debuted “Time Turns Elastic” with Don Hart and Orchestra Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium on September 28, 2008. Ernest Joseph "Trey" Anastasio III (born September 30, 1964) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Phish, which he co-founded in 1983.
