''Out-of-State Plates'' is a double compilation album by the American rock band Fountains of Wayne. It was released on Virgin Records on June 28, 2005. Details The album, a two-disc compilation of non-album tracks and previously unreleased recordings spanning the group's entire career, contain two brand new songs, "Maureen" and "The Girl I Can't Forget", as well as the first official release of the group's 1999 version of Britney Spears's " ...Baby One More Time". Also featured is a rare live version of the Electric Light Orchestra song, " Can't Get It Out of My Head". According to bassist and songwriter Adam Schlesinger, "The reason we really wanted to do this compilation record is that we do like a lot of these songs and we do want people to be able to hear them. But there are also a few things that are tossed off and goofy and this seems like the proper context to present them in." Fountains Of Wayne
Fountains of Wayne was an American rock band that formed in New York City in 1995. The band included founding members Chris Collingwood, Adam Schlesinger, Jody Porter, and Brian Young. They released five albums from 1996 to 2011 before effectively disbanding in 2013. They are best known for the Grammy-nominated song " Stacy's Mom". Schlesinger died of complications from COVID-19 on April 1, 2020, and the surviving members of Fountains of Wayne reunited to perform an online one-shot concert as a tribute to Schlesinger on April 22, 2020. "Survival Car" is the third single by Fountains of Wayne, from their eponymous debut album. It was released in 1997 and charted in the UK at No. 53 on July 26, 1997. Backing vocals on "Survival Car" were performed by Dominique Durand of Ivy, a band which also featured the song's co-writer Adam Schlesinger. ''Utopia Parkway'' is the second studio album by the American rock band Fountains of Wayne. It was released by Atlantic Records in April 1999. Background The album was written by Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger with the intention of emulating albums with a strong thematic story inspired by its surroundings, such as '' Muswell Hillbillies'' by The Kinks and '' Born to Run'' by Bruce Springsteen. According to Schlesinger, "When we were teenagers, we liked listening to Kinks records because we'd never been to England, and we got a sense of what it was like to live there. "Radiation Vibe" is the debut single by Fountains of Wayne, from their eponymous debut album. It was released in 1996 on Atlantic Records. Single releases "Radiation Vibe" was released as a vinyl single with "Karpet King" as the b-side. There was also a CD single which featured two other tracks, "Janice's Party" and "Imperia". "Can't Get It Out of My Head" is a song written by Jeff Lynne and originally recorded by Electric Light Orchestra (also known as ELO). First released on the band's fourth album ''Eldorado'' in September 1974, the song is the second track on the album and follows " Eldorado Overture". The song was released in November the same year as a single. The song became the band's first top 10 single in the United States, reaching number 9, and helped boost public awareness of the band in the U.S.; however, back in the UK the single and LP failed to chart. Electric Light Orchestra
The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood with drummer Bev Bevan. Their music is characterised by a fusion of pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. After Wood's departure in 1972, Lynne became the band's sole leader, arranging and producing every album while writing nearly all of their original material.
