Jo Muir
Joanna Muir (born 30 August 1994) is a British modern pentathlete, who was part of the British squad that won the team event at the 2019 European Modern Pentathlon Championships, and came second in the women's relay event at the 2016 World Modern Pentathlon Championships. She came second at the opening event of the 2021 Modern Pentathlon World Cup. Muir competed in the modern pentathlon event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Muir was formerly a runner. She took up modern pentathlon at the age of 15, having also been involved in tetrathlon. After finishing her studying, she chose to become a full-time athlete. She trains at the University of Bath. In 2013, Muir made her debut in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup at an event in Palm Springs, California, US. In 2015, Muir and Francesca Summers came second in the women's relay event at the Junior European Modern Pentathlon Championships. Haugh of Urr (), is a village in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is approximately NNW of Dalbeattie, NE of Castle Douglas, west of Dumfries and east of Kirkcudbright. Description The village is situated beside the River Urr. Scots ''haugh'', from Old English ''halh'', ''healh'' 'corner, nook' means river-meadow or a level piece of ground beside a stream. 'Urr' is from Cumbric ''or'' 'a border, boundary, limit'. It has one public house, the Laurie Arms which incorporates a part-time Post Office, one Church (Church of Scotland), a Village Hall, a Scout hut, and a small village green. The village no longer has any shops. Katherine Elizabeth French (born 11 February 1991) is a British modern pentathlete who won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Personal life French was born on 11 February 1991 in Meopham, near Gravesend, Kent. She was privately educated at the independent Cobham Hall School. She completed a degree in sports performance at the University of Bath, where she also trains at the Pentathlon GB High Performance Centre. French is married and lives in Chapmanslade, Wiltshire. Samantha Murray
Samantha Murray (born 25 September 1989) is an English modern pentathlete. She won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the bronze medal at the 2012 World Championships. In 2014, she won individual gold and team silver medals at the 2014 World Championships. In 2015, Murray reached world number #1 in the Modern Pentathlon World Rankings after taking Gold at the USA World Cup followed by a 5th place at the Berlin World Championships.
