Katherine Elizabeth French (born 11 February 1991) is a British modern pentathlete who won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Personal life French was born on 11 February 1991 in Meopham, near Gravesend, Kent. She was privately educated at the independent Cobham Hall School. She completed a degree in sports performance at the University of Bath, where she also trains at the Pentathlon GB High Performance Centre. French is married and lives in Chapmanslade, Wiltshire. Joanna Muir (born 30 August 1994) is a British modern pentathlete, who was part of the British squad that won the team event at the 2019 European Modern Pentathlon Championships, and came second in the women's relay event at the 2016 World Modern Pentathlon Championships. She came second at the opening event of the 2021 Modern Pentathlon World Cup. Muir competed in the modern pentathlon event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Muir was formerly a runner. She took up modern pentathlon at the age of 15, having also been involved in tetrathlon. After finishing her studying, she chose to become a full-time athlete. She trains at the University of Bath. Samantha Murray (born 25 September 1989) is an English modern pentathlete. She won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the bronze medal at the 2012 World Championships. In 2014, she won individual gold and team silver medals at the 2014 World Championships. In 2015, Murray reached world number #1 in the Modern Pentathlon World Rankings after taking Gold at the USA World Cup followed by a 5th place at the Berlin World Championships. She won the bronze medal in the women's individual event at the 2022 World Modern Pentathlon Championships held in Alexandria, Egypt. Private life İlke Özyüksel was born to a retired worker father and a school counselor mother in Ankara on 26 February 1997. Her mother had lost her sight at the age of 15 due to ocular hypertension. Despite her visual impairment, she finished her higher education as the highest-ranked student. İlke became very sick two weeks after her birth. In the beginning, it was thought that she had cancer. However, a Turkish physician working in the United States, who was in Turkey for a three-day conference, diagnosed her with Infantile hemangioma, which can be fatal if not treated. At the 2017 World Modern Pentathlon Championships, Gubaydullina won the gold medal in the individual competition, becoming the second Russian woman to do so (the other being Elizaveta Suvorova in 1997). Biography Gubaydullina was born to a Bashkir father and a Tatar mother. She started swimming in Novy Urengoy at the age of six.
