Jesper Parnevik
Jesper Bo Parnevik (; born 7 March 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer. He spent 38 weeks in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking in 2000 and 2001. Early years and amateur career Parnevik was born in Botkyrka, Stockholm County, and is the son of Swedish entertainer Bosse Parnevik and his wife Gertie (b. 1940). He grew up in Åkersberga. Parnevik became a member of the first group of students in Sweden to combine studying with golf training at the Swedish upper secondary sports school in Danderyd outside Stockholm. At age 15, Parnevik spent 10 days in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and developed an appreciation for life in the United States; he later moved to Palm Beach County, Florida, to attend Palm Beach Junior College in Lake Worth on a golf scholarship. Botkyrka
Botkyrka Municipality ( ) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, not far from the capital Stockholm. Its seat is located in the town of Tumba. In 1971 ''Grödinge'' was merged with Botkyrka and in 1974 ''Salem'' was added. The Salem part was split off again in 1983, and a new Salem Municipality was formed. Danderyd Municipality (''Danderyds kommun''; ) is a municipality north of Stockholm in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. It is one of the smallest municipalities of Sweden, but the most affluent. Its seat is located in Djursholm and it is located within Stockholm urban area. The "old" rural municipality Danderyd was split up during the early 20th century, when Djursholm and Stocksund broke away in 1901 and 1910 respectively. Since 1971 Danderyd Municipality is reunified in approximately the old boundaries. The population in 2019 was 32,857. 1993 European Tour
The 1993 European Tour, titled as the 1993 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 22nd official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The season was made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and five non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by Scotland's Colin Montgomerie for the first time, overtaking Nick Faldo with victory in the season ending Volvo Masters. Changes for 1993 There were few changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Madeira Island Open and a ProServ tournament in Bologna replacing the Volvo Open di Firenze. Payne Stewart
William Payne Stewart (January 30, 1957 – October 25, 1999) was an American professional golfer who won eleven PGA Tour events, including three major championships, the last of which came just a few months before his death in an airplane accident at the age of 42. Stewart gained his first major title at the 1989 PGA Championship. He won the 1991 U.S. Open after a playoff against Scott Simpson. At the 1999 U.S. Open Stewart captured his third major title after holing a par putt on the final hole for a one-stroke victory. Vijay Singh
Vijay Singh ( hif, विजय सिंह ; born 22 February 1963), nicknamed "The Big Fijian", is a Fijian professional golfer. He has won 34 events on the PGA Tour, including three major championships: one Masters title (2000) and two PGA Championships ( 1998, 2004). He is the first person of South Asian descent to win a major championship. He was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006. Singh reached world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking for 32 weeks in 2004 and 2005. Halmstad Golf Club
Halmstad Golf Club (Halmstad Golfklubb; Halmstad GK) is a golf club located in Tylösand, Halmstad Municipality in Sweden. It has hosted the 2007 Solheim Cup and the Chrysler Open on the Ladies European Tour and most recently Scandinavian Mixed. History The club was formed in 1930 and the first 18-hole course was approved by the Swedish Golf Federation in 1938, and it hosted its first Swedish Matchplay Championship already in 1939. In 1967, 9 new holes were constructed, which together with the last 9 holes of the old course formed the new North Course. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format 1959–1965 Each team consisted of a minimum of six players, playing two rounds of stroke play, counting the four best scores for each team. The 1985 European Amateur Team Championship took place from 26 to 30 June at Halmstad Golf Club, in Tylösand, Sweden. It was the 14th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The tournament was played at the club's North course. The club was founded in 1930. Its first 18-hole course, located in Tylösand, Halmstad Municipality, 9 kilometers west of Halmstad city center in Halland County, Sweden, was constructed by Rafael Sundblom and approved in 1938. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather. The 1986 Eisenhower Trophy took place 22 to 25 October at the Lagunita Country Club in Caracas, Venezuela. It was the 15th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 39 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Canada won the Eisenhower Trophy for the first time, finishing three strokes ahead of the silver medalists, United States. Chinese Taipei took the bronze medal, a further eight strokes behind with Sweden finishing fourth. Eduardo Herrera, representing Colombia, had the lowest individual score, 5-under-par 275. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 38 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Japan won the Eisenhower Trophy for the first time, finishing seven strokes ahead of the silver medalists, United States. The Philippines took the bronze medal, a further two strokes behind with Great Britain and Ireland finishing fourth. The United States had a poor second round, scoring 234 to Japan's 214, and were unable to catch the Japanese in the final two rounds.
