1984 Eisenhower Trophy
The 1984 Eisenhower Trophy took place 30 October to 2 November at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, Hong Kong. It was the 14th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 38 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Japan won the Eisenhower Trophy for the first time, finishing seven strokes ahead of the silver medalists, United States. The Philippines took the bronze medal, a further two strokes behind with Great Britain and Ireland finishing fourth. The United States had a poor second round, scoring 234 to Japan's 214, and were unable to catch the Japanese in the final two rounds. Luis Carbonetti, representing Argentina, and Tetsuo Sakata from Japan had the lowest individual scores, 2-under-par 286. Carbonetti had been the lowest individual scorer in 1982. Colin Stuart Montgomerie, Order of the British Empire, OBE (born 23 June 1963) is a Scotland, Scottish professional golfer. Garth McGimpsey (born 17 July 1955) is an amateur golfer from Bangor, Northern Ireland. Playing career McGimpsey won The Amateur Championship in 1985. He beat Graham Homewood, England, 8 and 7 in the final at Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Sutherland, Scotland. Peter McEvoy
Peter Aloysius McEvoy OBE (born 22 March 1953) was a leading British amateur golfer for many years, and is now a golf course designer, golf administrator, and golf writer. Early life McEvoy was born in London, but spent much of his childhood living near Turnberry where his father was a member of the famous links course. Even after moving back to London, he was able to play at the famous course. Playing highlights McEvoy won The Amateur Championship in both 1977 and 1978, which kicked off an impressive amateur golf career. David Gilford
David Gilford (born 14 September 1965) is an English professional golfer. Gilford was born in Crewe. In 1981, aged just 15, he won the Carris Trophy, English Boys Under-18 Open Amateur Stroke-Play Championship, at Moor Park. He won the English Amateur in 1984 and turned professional in 1986. Gilford has six wins on the European Tour, all of which came between 1991 and 1994. He finished in the top ten of the European Tour Order of Merit twice, placing 9th in 1991 and 7th in 1994. Robert "Bob" Wylie (born February 16, 1951) is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Vegas Vipers of the XFL. Prior to this, he served as the offensive line coach for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He served as the offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL), both under head coach Hue Jackson.
