Janet (French Singer)
Janet Edith Woollacott (November 4, 1939 in Carlton, England – November 13, 2011 in Clamart, Hauts-de-Seine) was a British-born French singer of the 1960s to 2000s. Biography Woollacott was a dancer on the Côte d'Azur aged 20 when she met Claude François, ''Cloclo'', in 1959, whom she married the following year. Only weeks before Claude François became a major star Woollacott left Claude François for Gilbert Bécaud, with whom she had a daughter, Jennifer Bécaud. The split was the subject of Claude François' bitter song "Je sais" (1964). Woollacott later wrote a book detailing the time shared with François. Claude François never remarried and died in 1978. In later years she remarried three more times; to the producer Jean-Paul Barkoff, the Les Charlots comedian and singer Jean Sarrus and the composer Dominique Perrier. Carlton, Nottinghamshire
Carlton is a town in the Borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England. It is to the east of Nottingham. The population at the 2011 Census was 6,881. It was an urban district until 1974, whose wards (Carlton Hill, Carlton, Cavendish, Colwick, Gedling, Netherfield, Phoenix and Porchester) had an estimated population of 48,416 in 2015. Owing to the growth of residential, commercial and industrial in the wider Gedling Borough, City of Nottingham, Borough of Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Ashfield District, as well as the Amber Valley and Borough of Erewash in Derbyshire which have become quite urban around Nottingham, Carlton and Gedling, as well as Netherfield form a contiguous urban area. "Sugar Me" is a song written by Lynsey de Paul and Barry Green. The first version of this song to be released was recorded by de Paul as her first single on MAM Records in 1972. It was produced by Gordon Mills and the B-side was de Paul's version of "Storm in a Teacup", a song she had co-written and had been a hit for the Fortunes earlier that year. Background and reception The single was a hit in many countries, notably reaching the top of the singles chart in the Netherlands (where it stayed for five weeks), Belgium, Sweden and Spain as well as the top 20 in the UK, Australia, Germany, Austria, Denmark and Japan. It also reached the no. 1 position on the Bangkok HSA chart in October 1972, and was play listed on some (WERS-FM, KCRW, KFAI, WPKN etc) US radio stations. Ariola Records
Ariola (also known as Ariola Records, Ariola-Eurodisc and BMG Ariola) is a German record label. In the late 1980s, it was a subsidiary label of the Bertelsmann Music Group, which in turn has become a part of the international media conglomerate Sony Music Entertainment. Profile Ariola Eurodisc GmbH was founded in 1958 as a music outlet of Bertelsmann. It set up several foreign subsidiaries. Dominique Perrier
Space Art is a French electronic music duo consisting of Dominique Perrier on keyboards and late French drummer Roger "Bunny" Rizzitelli. The band had its main commercial success between 1977 and 1981. History Formation In 1974, Dominique Perrier had been working as an arranger with Christophe, for whom Roger "Bunny" Rizzitelli had been drumming. Christophe brought an ARP Odyssey synthesizer, which was used mainly as a metronome, into the studio. Christophe then lent the synthesizer to Perrier for two years, during which time the band was born. According to Perrier, he originally preferred to name the band Moon but, after a trip to a funfair, Rizzitelli suggested an alternative; one of the fair attractions had been named after Spessart, the German mountain range. This then morphed into Space Art, which sounded better to them both. Les Charlots
Les Charlots, known as The Crazy Boys in the English-speaking world, was a group of French musicians, singers, comedians and film actors, who were popular in the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. The group was active first from 1965 to 1966 as ''"Les Problèmes"'', under which name they made an album with the French singer Antoine. They renamed themselves ''Les Charlots'' and remained active from 1966 to 1997, then again briefly from 2008 to 2011 (as a duo). ''Charlots'' is slang for ''"clowns" or "idiots"'' rather than being a direct reference to Charlie Chaplin, who was generally called Charlot in France.
