Jaipur–Ahmedabad Line
The Jaipur–Ahmedabad line connects Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan to Ahmedabad, the largest city of Gujarat in India. It is present on Ahmedabad–Delhi main line. Swarna Jayanti Rajdhani Express is the fastest train in this route. History Rajputana State Railway opened the Delhi–Bandikui -wide metre-gauge line in 1874, extended it to Ajmer in 1875 and to Ahmedabad in 1881. The Delhi–Ajmer metre-gauge line was converted to broad gauge in 1994. The Ahmedabad–Ajmer sector was fully converted to broad gauge in 1997. Railway electrification work is now completed in Rewari–Alwar–Bandikui–Jaipur–Palanpur–Ahmedabad sector. WDG-4
The Indian locomotive class WDG-4 (EMD GT46MAC) is a freight-hauling diesel-electric locomotive with AC electric transmission designed by General Motors Electro-Motive Diesel in 1997–1998 for Indian Railways, where they are classed as WDG-4. Thirteen were built by EMD as order #958647, and a further eight were exported in kit form and assembled in India. The class entered service in 1999. Further construction has been under license in India by the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW); more than 60 additional locomotives have been built . They are numbered from #12001 upward. Palace On Wheels
The ''Palace on Wheels'' is a luxury tourist train. It was launched by the Indian Railways in association with Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation to promote tourism in Rajasthan. It is now known as Heritage Palace on Wheels. The train service was refurbished and relaunched in August 2009 with a new decor, itinerary and cuisine. Ajmer Junction railway station (station code: AII) is located in Ajmer district in the Indian state of Rajasthan . History Initially it was built as a metre-gauge (MG) station with lines from Chittaurgarh Junction railway station, Ahmedabad Junction railway station, Phulera Junction railway station. In the 1990s, the Delhi–Jaipur line and Jaipur–Ahmedabad line were converted to broad gauge (BG).
