Júlio Miranda Calha
Júlio Francisco Miranda Calha (17 November 1947 – 28 March 2020) was a Portuguese Socialist Party politician. He served in the Assembly of the Republic from the Constituent Assembly in 1975 until the end of the 13th legislature in 2019. Biography Born in Portalegre, Miranda Calha earned degrees in German Studies and Pedagogical Sciences. He was a founder member of the Socialist Party's branch in Portalegre District after the Carnation Revolution in 1974. Miranda Calha was elected to the Constituent Assembly of Portugal in 1975 and retained his seat until the end of the 13th legislature in 2019. He was elected by his home district until 2011 when he was voted in by the Porto District, and finally the Lisbon District four years later. In October 2014, he was elected to replace Ferro Rodrigues as Vice President of the Assembly. The Socialist Party ( pt, Partido Socialista, , PS) is a social-democratic political party in Portugal. It was founded on 19 April 1973 in the German city of Bad Münstereifel by militants from the Portuguese Socialist Action ( pt, Acção Socialista Portuguesa). The PS is a member of the Socialist International, Progressive Alliance and Party of European Socialists, and has nine members in the European Parliament within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats group during the 9th European Parliament. It is the governing party of Portugal since the 2022 legislative election. ''Observador'' is a Portuguese online newspaper started on May 19, 2014. It is the only Portuguese newspaper in Portugal with a defined political orientation (right-wing liberalism). In what was almost a unique concept at the time of launch, it is a completely digital newspaper with no printed edition, with the exception of the Anniversary and Lifestyle editions. Observador commits itself to publish and update information on a 24/7 basis. In the first month, it reported 630,000 visitors. By August 2015, it reported six million visitors and 35 million pageviews. In January 2020, it reported 6.79 million visitors and 51.34 million pageviews. The Order of Prince Henry ( pt, Ordem do Infante Dom Henrique) is a Portuguese order of knighthood created on 2 June 1960, to commemorate the quincentenary of the death of the Portuguese prince Henry the Navigator, one of the main initiators of the Age of Discovery. Minor reforms of the constitution of the Order occurred in 1962 and 1980. António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres ( , ; born 30 April 1949) is a Portuguese politician and diplomat. Since 2017, he has served as secretary-general of the United Nations, the ninth person to hold this title. A member of the Portuguese Socialist Party, Guterres served as prime minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. Guterres served as secretary-general of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He was elected prime minister in 1995 and resigned in 2002, after his party was defeated in the 2001 Portuguese local elections.
