Jørgen Hansen Koch
Jørgen Hansen Koch (4 September 1787 – 30 January 1860) was a Neoclassical Danish architect. He was chief of the national Danish building administration from 1835 and director of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1844 to 1849. Koch and especially his wife Ida Koch were close friends of the writer Hans Christian Andersen, who would typically visit the Koch family on Friday evenings. Early life and education Joch was born on 4 September 1787 in Christianshavn, Copenhagen, the son of Jørgen Hansen Koch (1746–1801), a ship builder, and Anne Cathrine née Folkersen (1758–1809). He initially apprenticed as a carpenter. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1807 to 1816 where he studied under Christian Frederik Hansen, the leading Danish architect of the time. Roskilde Gymnasium is a gymnasium (upper secondary school) in central Roskilde, Denmark. It is based in the historical premises of Roskilde Cathedral School, facing the square in front of Roskilde Cathedral. The school has 1030 students and 90 teachers and a wide variety of study programs. Roskilde ( , ) is a city west of Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand. Duebrødre Kloster
Duebrødre Kloster is a historical building located at the corner of Bredegade and Allehelgensgade in central Roskilde, Denmark. It was built in 1841 to design by Jørgen Hansen Koch. Duebrødre Kloster is also the name of the charitable organisation for which the building was originally constructed as a home for needy widows. It is no longer the owner of the building but is still active and owns 108 residences at three different sites in Toskilde. Vestre Cemetery ( da, Vestre Kirkegård, meaning "Western Cemetery") is located in a large park setting in the Kongens Enghave district of Copenhagen, Denmark. With its 54 hectares it is the largest cemetery in Denmark. The cemetery is landscaped and serves as an important open space, in which people take a stroll, and look at the old graves and monuments. Herman Wilhelm Bissen
Herman Wilhelm Bissen (13 October 1798 – 10 March 1868) was a Denmark, Danish sculptor. Biography Bissen was born at Schleswig in the Duchy of Schleswig. He was the son of Christian Gottlieb Wilhelm Bissen (1766-1847), a farmer, and Anna Margrethe Dorothea Elfendal (1763-1848). He was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1816 to 1823. In 1824, he was awarded a travel scholarship which enabled him to travel to Rome. The stay in Rome extended over 10 years during which time he became an assistant to Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. Under the influence of Thorvaldsen, his style changed from romanticism to neo-classicism. In early 1834, Bissen left Rome to return to Copenhagen where he was awarded a professorship at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts following the death of his predecessor, Hermann Ernst Freund. Peter Frederik Wulff
Peter Frederik (Friderich) Wulff (26 November 1774–2 February 1842) was a Danish naval officer. He headed the Royal Danish Naval Academy from 1824 to 1841. Wulff, his wife Henriette Wulf, and several of his children were loyal friends and supporters of the writer Hans Christian Andersen. Early life Wulff was born on 26 November 1774 in Copenhagen, the son of first lieutenant and later commander Frederik Christian Wulff (1749–1812) and Kirstine Johansen (1755–1829). He was the elder brother of Christian Wulff. Career Wulff enrolled as a voluntary cadet in 1780 and became a cadet in 1788.
