Justs Sirmais (born 6 February 1995), also known as simply Justs, is a Latvian singer and television presenter. He represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Heartbeat". Life and career Early life Justs was born on 6 February 1995 in Ķekava. He attended Riga State Gymnasium No.1. He began his musical journey as a street musician in Riga. 2015–present: Eurovision Song Contest 2016 On 31 January 2016, Justs was announced as one of the 20 competing acts in the second season of ''Supernova'', the show used to select Latvia's representative to the Eurovision Song Contest. He was competing with the song "Heartbeat", written by Latvia's 2015 entrant Aminata Savadogo. In the first heat on 7 February, Sirmais advanced to the semi-final after winning over 40% of the televote. He competed in the semi-final on 21 February and advanced to the final through televoting. "Heartbeat" is a song performed by Latvian singer Justs. The song represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and was written by previous Latvian Eurovision entrant Aminata Savadogo. ''Supernova'' is a Latvian music entertainment show created by the Latvian broadcaster, LTV. It is currently used as the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. ''Supernova'' began airing in 2015, replacing the previous short-lived Latvian national selection '' Dziesma''. Aminata Savadogo (born 9 January 1993), occasionally known as simply Aminata, is a Latvian singer, songwriter, record producer, and model. She represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Love Injected". She released her debut studio album, ''Inner Voice'', in April 2015. Life and career 1993–2014: Early life and career Savadogo was born in Riga on 9 January 1993 to a mother of Latvian and Russian descent, and a Burkinabé father. She considers herself primarily Latvian. Latvia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 22 times since making its debut at the contest in 2000, where the group Brainstorm finished third with the song " My Star". ''Balss Maskā'' (''Voice in a Mask'') is a Latvian reality singing competition television series based on the ''Masked Singer'' franchise, which originated from the South Korean version of the show ''King of Mask Singer''. Triana Park ( lv, Triānas Parks) is a Latvian group founded in 2008 consisting of lead vocalist and founder Agnese Rakovska, guitarist Artūrs Strautiņš, drummer Edgars Viļums and bassist Kristaps Ērglis. Their style combines pop and electronic with hints of hip-hop and rock. They represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with their song " Line" They also previously attempted to represent the nation in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
