Jurong West Central is a subzone of Jurong West, located in the West Region of Singapore. This is the town centre of Jurong West. Transport Roads There are 4 main roads in this subzone – Boon Lay Way, Jalan Boon Lay, Jurong West Avenue 4/2 and Pioneer Road North. Public transport Rail Mass Rapid Transit The East West Line threads through the subzone along Street 63, with 2 stations ( Boon Lay and Pioneer), situated at the Eastern and Western ends of the subzone. By 2025, there will be the Jurong Region Line, which would ply through the Eastern end of the subzone. Jurong West is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. Jurong West shares boundaries with Tengah in the north, Jurong East in the east, Boon Lay and Pioneer in the south, and Western Water Catchment in the west. Originally a forested area, Jurong West is undergoing rapid development under the ambition of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to transform it into a fully mature housing estate. History Jurong West originated from the area once called Peng Kang, named after the gambier plantations along Sungei Jurong. By the mid-20th century, the area was home to several brickworks, palm oil plantations and nurseries. At that time, the only public housing estates in Jurong West were Boon Lay and Taman Jurong. Boon Lay Bus Interchange
Boon Lay Bus Interchange is an air-conditioned bus interchange located in Jurong West Central, in the western part of Singapore. It is situated within Jurong Point and integrated with the nearby Boon Lay MRT station. This interchange serves a variety of passengers, including those from Nanyang Technological University, Jurong Industrial Estate and Tuas Industrial Estate. The interchange has been among the largest and busiest bus interchanges in Singapore, handling 31 services in the past until a few services were amended to the newer Joo Koon Bus Interchange in 2015. Kian Teck
Kian Teck (建德) is an area in Jurong Industrial Estate in Singapore. It is in between Joo Koon and Boon Lay stations. It is home to many dormitories which houses foreign workers as well as factories and warehouses. Arena Country Club is also located within the industrial estate. Safti
SAFTI is a subzone of the Jurong West planning area of Singapore. It is home to the Pasir Laba Camp. It is also the training ground and a live-firing area for Singapore Armed Forces known as SAFTI Live Firing Area which is west of Pasir Laba Camp. It is bounded west of Upper Jurong Road, which is the only part of Western Water Catchment to name it Pasir Laba. So far, no developments are announced currently, unless Pasir Laba Green and SAFTI West new residential developments will be built. Pasir Laba Road Pasir Laba Road is a short stretch from Upper Jurong Road and terminating at Tengah Pumping Station via the SAFTI live firing ranges, Pasir Laba Camp and Multi-Mission Range Complex. Chin Bee
Chin Bee is an area in Jurong Industrial Estate in Singapore, bounded by Boon Lay Way, Jalan Boon Lay, Ayer Rajah Expressway (Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim) and Corporation Road. Chin Bee consists of many food manufacturing factories. Some of the early roads in the area were named after members of the Chew (Chew Boon Lay) family. Boon Lay Road, which originally ran from the old Jurong Road through Chew's estates to the southern coast, was named after Chew himself while Chin Chong and Chin Bee roads were named after his grandsons. Boon Lay (Jurong West)
Boon Lay (, ta, பூன் லே) is a neighbourhood located in the town of Jurong West in the West Region of Singapore. Its borders very roughly correspond to the URA subzone of Boon Lay Place, situated within the Jurong West Planning Area. The subzone was named after Chew Boon Lay (), a prominent businessman in the late 19th century and early 20th century who owned the land where the precinct stands. When a requisition of of land from his estate was done by the war department of the then colonial government of Singapore, it led to the growth of Boon Lay Village in the 1940s, with a population of about 420 in the early 1960s. Boon Lay Place had earthworks begun in 1969 and had their HDB flats built since 1974. The subzone is a division of West Coast GRC, under the management of West Coast Town Council. Bulim
Wenya (previously named as Bulim) is a subzone of Jurong West, Singapore. This subzone comprises businesses, educational institutions, residential developments and civic and community institutions. History Prior to the 1990s, the subzone was part of the Bulim estate (a Slum) and where the Bulim Hill Cemetery (a Chinese cemetery) was located. In 1984, the cemetery was closed and exhumed thereafter to make way for the Kranji and Pan Island expressways. Patrick Tay Teck Guan ( zh, s=郑德源, p=Zhèng Déyuán; born 1 December 1971) is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Pioneer SMC since 2020 and previously the Nee Soon East division of Nee Soon GRC between 2011 and 2015, and the Boon Lay division of West Coast GRC between 2015 and 2020.
