Chin Bee
Chin Bee is an area in Jurong Industrial Estate in Singapore, bounded by Boon Lay Way, Jalan Boon Lay, Ayer Rajah Expressway (Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim) and Corporation Road. Chin Bee consists of many food manufacturing factories. Some of the early roads in the area were named after members of the Chew (Chew Boon Lay) family. Boon Lay Road, which originally ran from the old Jurong Road through Chew's estates to the southern coast, was named after Chew himself while Chin Chong and Chin Bee roads were named after his grandsons. Transport It is in between Boon Lay and Lakeside stations. Bus services 79 and 246 ply through into the area with 79 plying along the Northern part of the area while 246 plies the Southern part (Jalan Tukang) while bus services 249 and 178 goes through the border of it along Jalan Boon Lay and Corporation Road respectively. Jurong West
Jurong West is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. Jurong West shares boundaries with Tengah in the north, Jurong East in the east, Boon Lay and Pioneer in the south, and Western Water Catchment in the west. Originally a forested area, Jurong West is undergoing rapid development under the ambition of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to transform it into a fully mature housing estate. History Jurong West originated from the area once called Peng Kang, named after the gambier plantations along Sungei Jurong. By the mid-20th century, the area was home to several brickworks, palm oil plantations and nurseries. At that time, the only public housing estates in Jurong West were Boon Lay and Taman Jurong. Boon Lay (Jurong West)
Boon Lay (, ta, பூன் லே) is a neighbourhood located in the town of Jurong West in the West Region of Singapore. Its borders very roughly correspond to the URA subzone of Boon Lay Place, situated within the Jurong West Planning Area. The subzone was named after Chew Boon Lay (), a prominent businessman in the late 19th century and early 20th century who owned the land where the precinct stands. When a requisition of of land from his estate was done by the war department of the then colonial government of Singapore, it led to the growth of Boon Lay Village in the 1940s, with a population of about 420 in the early 1960s. Boon Lay Place had earthworks begun in 1969 and had their HDB flats built since 1974. The subzone is a division of West Coast GRC, under the management of West Coast Town Council. Jalan Buroh
Jalan Buroh () is a major arterial road in western Singapore. It runs along the Industrial sector, industrial areas of Pandan, Tanjong Penjuru and Pioneer. Etymology "Buroh" in the old spelling of "Buruh" means "labour" in Malay Language, Malay. As with many Malay roads in Singapore, it still retains the older spelling. History The road was built during the era of industrialization in the 60s. A part of the road was originally named "Jalan Kimia" ("''Kimia''" meaning "''chemistry''" in Malay), it was renamed to "Jalan Buroh" in 1972. The name was chosen to reflect the industrial nature of the area. Other roads in the area also bare Malay names, including "Jalan Pabrik" (Jurong Port Road), "Jalan Gudang" (Jurong Pier Road), "Jalan Gerabak" (Tractor Road) of which many have been renamed to English by JTC Corporation. Jurong Bird Park
Jurong Bird Park is an aviary and tourist attraction in Jurong, Singapore. The largest such bird park in Asia, it covers an area of on the western slope of Jurong Hill, the highest point in the Jurong region. It is one of the parks managed by Mandai Wildlife Reserve, which are also the managers of Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders. In 2016, the Mandai Wildlife Group announced that the Jurong Bird Park would be relocated to a much larger park at Mandai Lake Road by 2020, consolidating with the three existing wildlife parks together with a new Rainforest Park to form an integrated nature and wildlife precinct known as the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. In 2021, the group announced that the park's successor in Mandai would be named Bird Paradise. Jurong Hill (Chinese: 裕廊山; ms, Bukit Peropok) is a scenic hill situated in western Singapore off Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim. Originally, the hill is known as ''Bukit Peropok'' in Malay. It is enveloped in 15 hectares of lush greenery and stands at 60 meters. History Commanding a panoramic view of Jurong Town since 1971, the hill is a well-known landmark. A look-out tower stands on Jurong Hill where one can get oop- aerial view of Jurong Town. The hill's adjacent park, Jurong Hill Park, was constructed by JTC Corporation. Boon Lay is a planning area located in the West Region of Singapore. The planning area is bounded by the planning areas of Pioneer to the west, Jurong West to the north, Jurong East to the east and the strait of Selat Jurong to the south. The Boon Lay Planning Area is different from Boon Lay. The latter is a residential neighbourhood located in the adjacent Jurong West Planning Area. Jurong Port Pte Ltd is a port operator headquartered in Singapore. Jurong Port, which operates the only multi-purpose port in Singapore, handles bulk, break-bulk and containerised cargo.
