Boon Lay (Jurong West)
Boon Lay (, ta, பூன் லே) is a neighbourhood located in the town of Jurong West in the West Region of Singapore. Its borders very roughly correspond to the URA subzone of Boon Lay Place, situated within the Jurong West Planning Area. The subzone was named after Chew Boon Lay (), a prominent businessman in the late 19th century and early 20th century who owned the land where the precinct stands. When a requisition of of land from his estate was done by the war department of the then colonial government of Singapore, it led to the growth of Boon Lay Village in the 1940s, with a population of about 420 in the early 1960s. Boon Lay Place had earthworks begun in 1969 and had their HDB flats built since 1974. The subzone is a division of West Coast GRC, under the management of West Coast Town Council. Jurong West
Jurong West is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. Jurong West shares boundaries with Tengah in the north, Jurong East in the east, Boon Lay and Pioneer in the south, and Western Water Catchment in the west. Originally a forested area, Jurong West is undergoing rapid development under the ambition of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to transform it into a fully mature housing estate. History Jurong West originated from the area once called Peng Kang, named after the gambier plantations along Sungei Jurong. Kian Teck
Kian Teck (建德) is an area in Jurong Industrial Estate in Singapore. It is in between Joo Koon and Boon Lay stations. It is home to many dormitories which houses foreign workers as well as factories and warehouses. Arena Country Club is also located within the industrial estate. Clementi (, ;) is a planning area and residential town located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west. Etymology "Clementi" derives its name from 'Clementi Road', the main traffic route that still runs into the district to this day. Gek Poh Ville
Gek Poh Ville is a residential precinct in Jurong, named after 'Gek Poh Road', a street that existed before Pioneer was developed. Boon Lay MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line in Jurong West, Singapore. Pan Island Expressway
The Pan Island Expressway (Abbreviated as: PIE) is the oldest and longest expressway in Singapore. It is also Singapore's longest road. The expressway runs from the East Coast Parkway near Changi Airport in the east to Tuas in the west and has a total length of . Initially conceived by the Public Works Department in the 1960s as part of road expansions for handling rising traffic volumes, work on the PIE commenced in 1964.
