Jurdan Martitegi
Jurdan Martitegi Lizaso (born May 10, 1980, in Durango, Vizcaya, Spain) is a member of the armed Basque nationalist and terrorist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). He is best known as the head of the military/commando unit of the group since late 2008 until April 18, 2009, when he was arrested by French police. He is considered to be one of the most dangerous members of ETA, considered a terrorist organization by the European Union, with police describing him as "extremely violent". He gained prominence in the military section of ETA by leading the 'commando Vizcaya' (Biscay Command) after the 2006 ceasefire along with Arkaitz Goikoetxea and rose to the highest level of ETA's military leadership following the December 2008 arrest of Aitzol Iriondo alias ''Gurbita'' who had replaced Miguel de Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina alias ''Txeroki'', arrested less than a month before. Durango, Biscay
Durango is a town and municipality of the historical territory and province of Biscay, located in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, Spain. It is the main town of Durangaldea, one of the ''comarcas of Spain, comarcas'' of Biscay. Because of its economical activities and population, Durango is considered one of the largest towns in Biscay after the ones that compose the conurbation of Greater Bilbao. Durango has 29,318 inhabitants (2017). The town is crossed by three rivers (as illustrated in the town symbol). The Ibaizabal river is the main river, and lies in the middle of its wide valley, with the Urkiola, Urkiola mountain range and natural park to the south. ETA's 2006 Ceasefire Declaration
ETA's 2006 "permanent ceasefire" was the period spanning between 24 March and 30 December 2006 during which, following an ETA communiqué, the Spanish government, led by José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero on one side, and the militant group on the other, engaged in talks as a means to agree on a formula to voluntarily disband the latter. It was terminated as a result of the 2006 Madrid Barajas International Airport bombing. The (, en, Public Guard or ''People's Guard''), is the autonomous police force for the Basque Country, largely replacing the Spanish Policía Nacional (National Police) and Guardia Civil (Civil Guard). Isaías Carrasco
Isaías Carrasco (1964 – March 7, 2008) was a Basque politician, affiliated with the PSE. He was shot dead when he left his house in Tolosa de Mondragón on March 7, 2008, two days ahead of general elections in Spain by Beñat Aginagalde, a member of ETA. The electoral campaign was suspended on the part of the politicians, in response to the murder of councilman Carrasco. He was shot in the presence of his wife and daughter. According to sources of the investigation, a disguised gunman approached him from behind and shot him three times; once in the nape of the neck and twice in the chest. The emergency services transferred him to the hospital in very serious condition. Shortly after the 14:00 local time (13:00 UTC) the Basque Department of Interior confirmed his death. Getxo () is a town located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, in Spain. It is part of Greater Bilbao, and has 77,946 inhabitants (2019). Álava
