Julien-Joseph Ducorron
Julien-Joseph Ducorron (15 November 1770 – 22 March 1848) was a Belgian landscape painter. Ducorron was born at Ath. At the age of thirty-two, he devoted himself to the art of painting under the direction of Balthasar Paul Ommeganck, and made marvellous progress as a landscape painter, obtaining several gold medals. He was afterwards director of the Academy at Ath, where he died in 1848. Landscape painting, also known as landscape art, is the depiction of natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, especially where the main subject is a wide view—with its elements arranged into a coherent composition. In other works, landscape backgrounds for figures can still form an important part of the work. Sky is almost always included in the view, and weather is often an element of the composition. Balthasar Paul Ommeganck (sometimes also: Paul Balthasar Ommeganck) (1755–1826) was a Flemish painter of landscape painter, landscapes and animal painter, animals active in Antwerp. Irchonwelz is a village and district of the municipality of Ath, located in the Hainaut Province in Wallonia, Belgium. The history of the village goes back to at least the 13th centre, when ownership of the land was transferred from the Bishop of Cambrai to the . Later, it passed to the de Trazegnies family. Chièvres (; pcd, Chieve) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. On January 1, 2018, Chièvres had a total population of 6,899. The total area is 46.91 km² which gives a population density of 150 inhabitants per km². Chièvres Air Base is located in the municipality. The municipality consists of the following districts: Chièvres, Grosage, Huissignies, Ladeuze, Tongre-Saint-Martin, and Tongre-Notre-Dame.
