Julie Hall (golfer)
Julie Pauline Hall ( Wade, later Otto, born 10 March 1967) is an English golfer. She won the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship twice, in 1990 and 1995, and the English Women's Amateur Championship three times. She played in five Curtis Cup matches from 1988 to 1996. She turned professional in 2011 to follow a career in golf tuition. Golf career Hall first came to prominence at the age of 20, when she won the 1987 English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Northumberland golf club, winning by 7 strokes from Alison Johns. The following week she won the English Intermediate Championship at Sheringham, a match-play event for women aged between 18 and 23, beating Sara Robinson 2&1 in the final. Earlier in the year she had made her senior debut for England in the European Ladies' Team Championship at Turnberry. Joanne Catherine Furby (born 16 March 1969) is an English professional golfer. She won the 1987 English Women's Amateur Championship and the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship in 1988. She turned professional in early 1989. Golf career Furby won the 1987 English Women's Amateur Championship at Alwoodley Golf Club, beating Maria King 4&3 in the final. Kathryn Christine Imrie (born Kathryn Marshall 8 June 1967) is a Scottish professional golfer who played on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Marshall was born in Dundee, Scotland. She had a successful amateur career. Helen Wadsworth (born 7 April 1964) is a former Welsh professional golfer on the Ladies European Tour. Career Prior to turning professional, Wadsworth was runner-up in the 1990 Welsh Ladies' Amateur Championship, runner-up to Julie Wade in the 1990 British Ladies Amateur, won the 1990 World Fourball Championship (with Julie Wade) in Brazil, and was a member of the 1990 Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team. She played collegiate golf with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In her first year as a professional, Wadsworth had three top-10 finishes, winning her the Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year Award. Vagliano Trophy
The Vagliano Trophy is a biennial women's amateur golf tournament. It is co-organised by The R&A and the European Golf Association and is contested by teams representing "Great Britain and Ireland" and the "Continent of Europe". It is played in odd-numbered years; the Curtis Cup being played in even-numbered years. The event started in 1931 as a match between Great Britain and France. It was played annually from 1931 to 1939 and from 1947 to 1949, before becoming a biennial event from 1949 to 1957. Britain won 15 of the 16 matches with the 1934 match being tied. From 1949 to 1957 Great Britain had also played a biennial match against Belgium. In 1959 the two matches were replaced by one with Britain playing a team representing the Continent of Europe, the Vagliano Trophy being used for the new event. Joanne Morley
Joanne Lois Morley (born 30 December 1966) is an English professional golfer. Morley was born in Sale. She was leading amateur at the Women's British Open in 1989 and 1993 and English Women's Strokeplay Champion in 1991 and 1992. She finished runner-up in the 1992 British Ladies Amateur. She played on the Great Britain and Ireland team in the 1992 Curtis Cup (winners) and the 1992 Espirito Santo Trophy (2nd place). Morley turned professional in late 1993 and initially played on the Ladies European Tour (LET), where she came a career best sixth on the Order of Merit in 1996. She has won twice on the LET. Avia Foursomes
The Avia Foursomes was a women's foursomes golf tournament contested annually from 1958 to 1989. It was held at Sunningdale Golf Club in its first year but was then played at the Berkshire Golf Club near Ascot, Berkshire. The event consisted of 72 holes of stroke play. From 1958 to 1964 it was called the Kayser Bondor Foursomes and in 1965 Casa Pupo Foursomes before being sponsored by Avia watches from 1966. Avia withdrew their sponsorship after the 1989 event. In 1978 the event was opened up to professionals, although they had to play with an amateur. The 1958 event resulted in a tie, with two pairs equal on 317. An event was planned for 1964 but was abandoned because of snow. The 1971 event was reduced to 36 holes after rain caused the final day to be lost. Royal Drottningholm Golf Club is a golf club located in Drottningholm, Stockholm County in Sweden. It has hosted tournaments both on the European Tour and the Ladies European Tour. History The club was established in 1959 and received a royal charter from king Gustaf VI Adolf the same year. It is situated on the island Lovön in lake Mälaren in the outskirts of Stockholm adjacent to Drottningholm Palace, the residence of the Swedish Royal Family. The course was designed by Rafael Sundblom and his associate Nils Sköld, and the king himself inaugurated the course 26 September 1959. 1988 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1988 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 8–11 September at Drottningholm Golf Club in Stockholm, Sweden. The club was later renamed the Royal Drottningholm Golf Club, named from the palace close to the course, the Drottningholm Palace, home of the Swedish king and queen. The course, laid out on crown property, opened in 1959 in a park and woodland area about 15 kilometres (9 miles) from midtown Stockholm. For this championship, the course was set up as the women's championship course with par 73. It was the 13th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 27 team entries, each with three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Royal Porthcawl Golf Club is a golf club in Wales in the United Kingdom, located north of Porthcawl and bordering the Bristol Channel.
