Julian Eggebrecht
Julian Eggebrecht is a German video game businessman. He is notable for having been one of the founding members and creative director of Factor 5, a German-American game development company. Career Eggebrecht co-founded Factor 5 in Germany in 1987 and moved the company to California in 1996 for the purpose of closer working with its largest partner, LucasArts. He was key in Factor 5 becoming Nintendo's technology partner, supplying the Nintendo 64 audio development software; and in the fundamental development of the GameCube and Wii console hardware and software. He was a member of the Sony PS3 Edge toolset group. He led Factor 5's teams to pioneer many technological advancements in video game audiovisual technology such as MusyX (originally called MOsys FX Surround), with collaboration with Dolby Labs, THX, and AMD (then known as ATI). Gamescom
Gamescom (stylized as gamescom) is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since 2018, it has been organised by ''game – Verband der deutschen Games-Branche'' (English: Association of the German video game industry); and before that, by the ''Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware'' (BIU). It supersedes Games Convention, held in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. Gamescom is used by many video game developers to exhibit upcoming games and game-related hardware. Alongside Gamescom is Devcom, a portion of the convention dedicated to video game development, though activities of Devcom continue year-round. ''Star Wars: Rogue Squadron'' is an arcade-style flight action game co-developed by Factor 5 and LucasArts. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is a self-regulatory organization that assigns age and content ratings to consumer video games in the United States and Canada. The ESRB was established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA, formerly the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA)), in response to criticism of controversial video games with excessively violent or sexual content, particularly after the 1993 congressional hearings following the releases of '' Mortal Kombat'' and ''Night Trap'' for home consoles and ''Doom'' for home computers. The Games Convention (GC), sometimes called the Leipzig Games Convention, was an annual video game event held in Leipzig, Germany, first held in 2002. Besides video games, the event also covers Infotainment, Hardware, and Edutainment. Its concept was created by the ''Leipziger Messe'' (Leipzig Fair) in cooperation with ''Bundesverband für Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware'' (German Federal Association for Entertainment Software) amongst others. The 2010 Gamescon was held August 18 to August 22.
