Julen Madariaga
Julen Kerman Madariaga Agirre (11 October 1932 – 6 April 2021) was a Spanish Basque politician and lawyer who co-founded the Basque armed group ETA in 1959 together with , Rafael Albisu and Txillardegi. Biography Madariaga was born in Bilbao on 11 October 1932. He accompanied his father, a militant of the Basque Nationalist Party, to exile in Chile during the Spanish Civil War. He returned to Bilbao in 1942. After high school, he studied law in the United Kingdom, earning a doctorate in University of Cambridge, after which he returned to the Basque Country and embarked on nationalist political activity. He was one of the founders of "Ekin" in the early 1950s, a splinter organization of the Basque Nationalist Party youth that was the embryo of the future Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). Herri Batasuna (; en, Popular Unity; HB) was a far-left Basque nationalist coalition in Spain. It was founded in 1978 and defined itself as abertzale, left-wing, socialist, and supported the independence of the Greater Basque Country. It was refounded as Batasuna in 2001 and subsequently outlawed by the Spanish Supreme Court for being considered the political wing of the separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). Extortion
Extortion is the practice of obtaining benefit through coercion. In most jurisdictions it is likely to constitute a criminal offence; the bulk of this article deals with such cases. Aralar Party
Aralar was a Basque socialist and separatist political party in Spain. It was opposed to the violent struggle of ETA. History Aralar was born in the 1990s from a critical tendency within Herri Batasuna (HB) and Euskal Herritarrok (EH), led by Patxi Zabaleta. The tendency had its main base in Navarre. The breaking of ETA's truce in 2000 provoked Herri Batasuna's reformation into Batasuna, to have presence in all Euskal Herria. Following disagreements over the internal organization of Batasuna, Aralar broke away to form a separate political party. In 2004 the youth wing of Aralar, Iratzarri, was founded. In the May 2003 election for the Navarre Assembly, Aralar obtained 24,068 votes (8.02% of the valid votes) and four seats and in the same community obtained 4.76% of the valid votes in the municipal elections and 18 local councillors.
