Judith Hamilton
Judith Hamilton is known for her community theatre work in Dryden, Ontario, Canada. A member and part of the management team of the community theatre group Theatre 17, she is credited with reviving and leading the theatre, and has directed many of their productions. Since 2004, Theatre 17 has staged at least one show per year. Hamilton brought the community together to resurrect the theatre in 2005, producing ''Quilters''. In February 2014, the group performed ''Calendar Girls'', a highly successful production raising money for the community's hospital. They staged ''Love, Loss, and What I Wore'' in January 2015. Dryden, originally known as New Prospect, is the second-largest city in the Kenora District of Northwestern Ontario, Canada, located on Wabigoon Lake. Calendar Girls (play)
''Calendar Girls'' is a stage play based on the 2003 film of the same name. Production history The play was adapted by Tim Firth and directed by Hamish McColl. After a successful try-out at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September 2008 and a lengthy national tour, a stage adaptation of the film started previewing on 4 April 2009 at the Noël Coward Theatre in the West End, opening on 20 April. The original cast included Lynda Bellingham, Patricia Hodge, Siân Phillips, Gaynor Faye, Brigit Forsyth, Julia Hills and Elaine C. Smith. While the play was a financial success (it took in over £1.7 million in advance ticket sales), the critical reception was mixed. Marvin Neil Simon (July 4, 1927 – August 26, 2018) was an American playwright, screenwriter and author. He wrote more than 30 plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, mostly film adaptations of his plays. He has received more combined Academy Award, Oscar and Tony Award nominations than any other writer. Simon grew up in New York City during the Great Depression. His parents' financial difficulties affected their marriage, giving him a mostly unhappy and unstable childhood. ''Rumors'' is a farcical play by Neil Simon that premiered in 1988. Plot summary The play starts with Ken Gorman and his wife, Chris Gorman, at the 10th anniversary party of Charlie Brock, the Deputy Mayor of New York, and his wife, Myra. Unfortunately, things are not going quite to plan. All the kitchen staff are gone, Myra is missing, and Charlie has shot himself in the head. Dryden High School (2009 population 830) is a composite secondary school situated in Dryden, Ontario, Canada. Activities Dryden High School runs a competitive athletics program as part of the Northwestern Ontario Secondary School Athletics league (NorWOSSA).
