José Ángel Mañas
José Ángel Mañas (Madrid, 22 October 1971) is a Spanish writer. Mañas is often included as a member of the generation of neorealist Spanish writers from the 1990s, along with Juan Gracia, Gabriela Bustelo, Ray Loriga and Lucía Etxebarria. His books have been translated into several languages. Books Mañas achieved popular acclaim upon the publication of his literary debut ''Historias del Kronen''. The novel, a finalist for the Premio Nadal literary prize in 1994, became a cult classic, particularly after the film adaptation by Spanish director Montxo Armendáriz. Three novels similar in style and content followed ''Historias del Kronen'': ''Mensaka'' (1995), ''Ciudad Rayada'' (1998) and ''Sonko95'' (1995). Ray Loriga
Jorge Loriga Torrenova, better known as Ray Loriga (born March 5, 1967), is a Spanish author, screenwriter, and director. His first novel ''Lo Peor de todo'' (''The Worst Thing of All''), was published in 1992, and was followed by ''Héroes'' in 1993. ''Caídos del Cielo - La pistola de mi hermano'' (''My Brother's Gun'') was the first of his novels to be published in English, and he directed a film based on this book in 1997. In the same year, he worked together with Pedro Almodóvar and Jorge Guerricaechevarria to produce the screenplay for the film ''Carne trémula'' (''Live Flesh''), also directed by Almodóvar. The screenplay was based on the 1986 novel of the same name by the British crime writer Ruth Rendell. ''Lucía'' is a 1968 Cuban black-and-white drama film directed by Humberto Solás, and written by Solás, Julio García Espinosa and Nelson Rodríguez. It was the winner of the Golden Prize and the Prix FIPRESCI at the 6th Moscow International Film Festival in 1969. The film is a period piece, told in three stories in different moments of Cuban history (the Cuban war of independence, the 1930s during the regime of Gerardo Machado and the 1960s), all as seen through the eyes of a different woman, each named Lucía. ''Lucia'' was digitally restored by the Cineteca di Bologna with funding from World Cinema Project and Turner Classic Movies and later screened at the Cannes Classics section of the 70th Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. A pastoral lifestyle is that of shepherds herding livestock around open areas of land according to seasons and the changing availability of water and pasture. Carmen Balcells
Carmen Balcells Segala (9 August 1930 – 20 September 2015) was a literary agent of Spanish-language authors from Spain and Latin America, including six Nobel Prize–winning authors. She led her agency from 1956 to 2000, during which time she was one of the driving forces behind the 1960s boom of Latin American literature. After her retirement she was awarded with an honorary doctorate, besides other awards, but returned to the agency in 2008.
